The Wittenberg-Birnamwood girls swim team made the most of its eight qualifying entries in this year’s Division 2 State Championship swim meet Nov. 10 in Waukesha.

The Chargers got off to a quick start when the 200-yard medley relay team of Kelsie Davis, Reese Dickman, Faith Resch and Ava Hegewald placed 11th and set a new school record of 1:54.27. The old record has held since 2005.

Later in the meet, that same foursome made a podium appearance when they again broke the school record in the 200-yard freestyle relay and placed sixth to secure a trip to the medal ceremony.

Resch and Dickman also attended the awards ceremony by placing fourth and sixth, respectively, in the 50-yard freestyle with times of 24.63 and 24.64.

Resch broke the school record previously held by Dickman.

Dickman placed seventh in the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:07.41.

Davis placed 12th in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:15.67. She was 13th in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:01.87.

In the 100-yard freestyle, Resch finished 11th in 55.13.
