SPEEDWAY: Shawano’s Bartz, Teske take checkered flags
In the IMCA modifiers feature at the Shawano Speedway on July 27, Shawano’s Jordan Bartz moved up from starting 10th to take the checkered flag. Tigerton’s Wyatt Block, who started one spot in front of Bartz, finished one spot behind at the end.
Seymour’s Chuck Carmin placed third.
Wausau’s Kevin Feck won the first heat after starting in third place. He was followed by Green Valley’s Adam Jacobson in second and Bartz in third.
Heat 2 was won by Cody Hokenstad. Block finished in second, with Wausau’s Marcus Yarie in third.
Shawano’s Jeffrey Teske won the IMCA sport modifiers feature, moving up from a ninth-place starting spot. He beat out Tigerton’s Dustin Wudstrack, who started fourth and placed second, and Shawano’s Tommy Rindt, who started 10th and placed third.
In the first heat race, Shawano’s Trace Yaeger crossed the finish line first, followed by Teske and Gresham’s Charles Hoffman.
AJ Springborn, of Shawano, won the second heat. He was followed by Shawano’s Michael Springborn in second and Wudstrack in third.
The Gehm’s Club 117 Kings Classic dirt late model race was won by Waukesha’s Taylor Scheffler, who started on the pole. Shawano’s Troy Springborn captured second, and Hortonville’e Joel Bennett was third.
In the Autoworx Heat 1, it was Shawano’s Brett Swedberg starting on the pole and finishing in the top spot. Hortonville’s Jordan Barkholtz placed second with Bennett in third.
As for the Klink Equipment Heat 2, Scheffler won from the pole, followed by Bonduel’s Nick Anvelink, coming up from eighth, and Shawano’s Lukas Postl.
Hortonville’s Travis VanStraten captured the top spot in the IMCA stock cars feature race. He moved up from a seventh-place start to get the win.
Shawano’s Trent Nolan moved all the way up from a 16th-place start to garner second place, while Oconto Falls’ Kyle Frederick started 10th and finished third. Marion’s Dan Michonski started 11th and finished in fourth.
VanStraten won the first heat, followed by Frederick and Wisconsin Rapids’ Mark Eswein. Michonski won the second heat, with Oshkosh’s Presley Harrington grabbing second and Shiocton’s Kyle Stedjee taking third. The third heat’s checkered flag was won by Seymour’s Jerry Wilinski. Oshkosh’s Ryan Lujeck placed second, and Shawano’s Brekken Kleinschmidt was third.
Clintonville’s Tanner Westphal moved up from ninth to first to win the Mighty 4s feature race. Shawano’s Dalton Nelson was second, with Clintonville’s Brad Wedde taking third.
In the first heat, Lucas Hacker, of Shawano, won after starting eighth. Nelson was second, with Clintonville’s Tanner Pari taking third. Westphal won the second heat, with Marion’s Justin Haufe sliding into second and Sobieski’s Braden Allen nabbing third.
There are five weeks left in the season, which will culminate Aug. 31 during the Shawano County Fair.
