Shawano's Chelberg qualifies for cross-country sectionals

Shawano Community High School freshman Grace Chelberg qualified for sectionals after a top-10 finish at the Division 1 Neenah Subsectional on Tuesday in Neenah.

Chelberg posted a time of 20 minutes, 49.9 seconds to place seventh and finish among the top-five individuals who were not on a sectional-qualifying team (Neenah and Wisconsin Rapids).

The Shawano girls team took fourth with a score of 96, while the boys came in fifth with a 122.

Lydia Beyer (21:13.7), Lilly Guenther (21:36.6), Grace Beyer (21:47.7), Odessa Arce (21:56.7), Timea Kovacs (24:40.5) and Onna Hermann (25:10.9) filled out the girls team.

Ethan Onesti (17:56.2), Aidan Preston (18:12), Connor Chelberg (18:24.3), Will Chelberg (18:26.8), Alec White (18:32.2), Andon Chelberg (18:39) and Ethan Chelberg (19:23.5) formed the Shawano boys team.

Chelberg and the other sectional-qualifying individuals and teams are scheduled to compete in the Hortonville Sectional on Friday.
