Shawano swimmers top Clintonville 85-56

Shawano varsity swimmers grabbed three first-place finishes in their 85-56 win at Clintonville on Oct. 12.

In the 200-yard freestyle, freshman Lily Tonn took first in 2:52, while junior Lila Melchior took second in 2:59.

Sophomore Tela Hopfensberger took first in the 200-yard individual medley in 2:41. She also finished second in the 500-yard freestyle in 6:33.

Sophomore Bre Anderson placed first in the 100-yard freestyle in 1:19.

Freshman Jai Bisterfeldt took second in the 100-yard butterfly in 1:25, Brynn Hannes was second in the 100-yard backstroke in 1:26. Junior Lila Melchior finished in second in the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:42.

In the 200-yard freestyle relay, it was Katie Mullins, Jadyn Brown, Lily Tonn and Bisterfeldt in second in 2:16

Junior varsity swimmers also grabbed a few first- and second-place finishes.

In the 100-yard freestyle, freshman Kenley Kelliher took first in 1:27.

Freshman Lily Splitgerber took first in the 50-yard freestyle in 41:15, and Paige Bedroske took second in 45.35.

Splitgerber placed second in the 100-yard freestyle in 1:34.

Door County United Girls 113, Wittenberg-Birnamwood 46

Wittenberg-Birnamwood just couldn’t muster enough strength to overcome their hosts, Door County United Girls, in a 113-46 loss Oct. 12.

Reese Dickman placed first in the 50-yard freestyle in 26.77 seconds. Claire Timm was fifth.

Kelsie Davis won the 100-yard butterfly in 1:04.49. She also won the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:12.14, while Dickman placed second, just 0.37 seconds behind her.

Faith Resch won the 100-yard freestyle in 58.42. Andrea Powell was fourth.

Davis, Dickman, Resch and Timm placed second in the 200-yard medley relay.

Resch, Davis, Powell and Dickman were second in the 200-yard freestyle relay.

Resch was also second in the 100-yard backstroke.

Powell was third in the 200-yard freestyle.

There were several events in which the Chargers did not compete.
