Shawano man faces 18 counts of child porn possession

SHAWANO — A Shawano man was charged Thursday with 18 counts of possession of child pornography as a result of a search warrant executed at his residence in the city earlier this year.

Henry M. Hobscheid, 64, could face a maximum possible penalty of 25 years in prison and a $100,000 fine on each of the counts if found guilty.

According to the criminal complaint, Shawano police received a tip in February from the Internet Crimes Against Children data system that an image of a prepubescent minor was uploaded from an IP address in the city.

The image was of a female about 7-9 years of age in a sexual pose, according to the complaint. The IP address was traced to Hobscheid, and a search warrant was executed on March 19.

Authorities seized a cellphone, laptop, tablet, flash drives, external hard drives and multiple CDs. A forensic analysis by Shawano County sheriff’s detectives of the laptops and flash drives revealed images of child pornography, according to the complaint.

The complaint states the images were of prepubescent females in sexual poses or performing sexual acts.

Hobscheid was ordered held on a $25,000 cash bond and scheduled for a preliminary hearing May 14.
