Shawano football team earns Academic All-State Award

Golfers from Shawano, Oconto Falls, Pulaski also honored

The Shawano Community High School football team earned a Wisconsin Football Coaches Association Team Academic All-State Award.

To qualify for the award, the team had to have a minimum of five seniors and have the cumulative grade-point average of those seniors be 3.33 or higher.

WFCA listed the Shawano football team with 11 seniors and a GPA of 3.52.

Four Shawano football players — Owen Curran, Brady Glysch, Jacob Landon and Michael Metcalf-Grassman — earned Individual Academic All-State Awards from the WFCA.

To qualify for individual academic honors, players must be seniors, have a cumulative GPA of 3.75 or higher and be varsity letterwinners.

Oconto Falls and Pulaski also had individual players honored.

Braden Vandermoss represented Oconto Falls. Additionally, Derek Block, Charles Duffrin, Caden Haag, Nathan Mork, Samuel Murphy, Eric Sperduto, Brock Steinbrecher and Mason Wells all earned the honor for Pulaski.

Area girls golfers also earn academic honors

Golfers from Shawano, Oconto Falls and Pulaski were named to Golf Coaches Association of Wisconsin Girls Academic All-State lists.

To qualify, golfers had to be sophomores, juniors or seniors, have a cumulative GPA of 3.25 or higher and also have competed in at least 75% of the team’s varsity matches this fall.

Shawano’s Braylyn Babino, Riley Dreier and Alli Johnson earned high honors, while Teghan Kristof and Sophia Eggert made the honors list.

Kate Pytleski, Kloeigh Seidl and Taylor Miller earned high honors marks for Oconto Falls, while Kenadee Seidl made the honors list.

Ella Ficarri, Magdalen Jandric and Summer Jaeger were all on the high honors list for Pulaski, while Katelyn Schuettpelz, Vivien Ninham and Danika Holewinski made the honors list.
