Ryan Mahoney makes NABC Honors Court
Suring High School graduate Ryan Mahoney, a senior for the Ripon College men’s basketball team, earned a spot on the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Honors Court.
To receive the recognition, a student-athlete must academically be a junior or second who has a grade-point average of 3.2 or higher.
This was the guard’s first season earning the honor. Mahoney majored in exercise science with an emphasis on human performance.
The Ripon men’s basketball team also earned the NABC’s Team Academic Excellence Award, which requires a team cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better during the 2021-22 school year.
Area grads make WIAC Scholastic Honor Roll list
Several area graduates earned spots on the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Scholastic Honor Roll list for their work in the classroom during the 2021-22 academic year.
To make the list, student-athletes needed to achieve a 3.00 GPA or better.
Five Bonduel graduates earned spots on the list, with Parker Bohm and Isaac Garside (Eau Claire football), Jessie LaBerge (Whitewater women’s golf), Breanna Schnell (Stevens Point track and field) and Brody Wussow (Stout football) recognized.
Four student-athletes from Shawano and Pulaski were honored.
Baylie Hansen (Whitewater volleyball), Ben Smits (Stevens Point football), Crede Timm (River Falls football) and Morgan Weinig (River Falls track and field) were the four Shawano grads.
Vanessa Grunwald (Eau Claire women’s soccer), Maggie Hernandez (La Crosse women’s soccer), Mackenzie Niespodzany (Stevens Point softball) and Kevin Ruechel (Stout track and field) were the Pulaski athletes recognized.
Oconto Falls’ Dakota Carriveau (Stevens Point football) and Tucker Bouche (La Crosse baseball) and Suring’s Mitch Stegeman (Eau Claire track and field) also earned spots on the Scholastic Honor Roll.
