Roberta Rades

By:

Roberta “Bobbie” Rades, 77, beloved mother, sister, grandmother, passed into peace Aug. 9, 2022. Roberta was born Feb. 1, 1945, to Kathryn and Rueben Rades in Green Bay. She graduated Shawano High School in 1963 and worked in her parents’ restaurant for some time. Her kind and helpful nature inspired her to become a CNA, but her love and affinity for children truly filled her soul. She returned to school to get her early childhood certification for daycare. She worked with the infants at St. Vincent’s Day Care for five years before taking care of children in her home.

Roberta was a sweet and loving soul, a mother to everyone. Many knew her as Ma. Her warm eyes, caring smile, and inviting embrace were known to all who crossed her path. She had a great sense of humor and loved to laugh. She enjoyed dancing, singing with family, vacationing in Clearwater, Florida, supporting the VFW, and lending an ear or offering good advice to anyone in need. In her more quiet moments she expressed her talent for writing through the many beautiful, inspirational, heartfelt poems she left behind.

Her memory lives on through her daughters, Kathleen and Molly O’Connor; her siblings, Joanne Montoure and Greg Rades; her grandsons, Logan Smith and Alex Ramirez; and all those whose lives she touched.

She was preceded in death by her parents and sisters, Nancy Groenier and Gwendolyn Harrop.

A celebration of life party will be held on Aug. 21, 2022, at Shawano Lake County Park from noon to 4 p.m. All are welcomed to come, share stories, laugh, sing, and celebrate her beautiful spirit.
