Resch wins big at Rosholt track meet

Back the Track

Area track and field athletes grabbed their share of first-place finishes at the Back the Track event in Rosholt.

For the boys, Bonduel’s Ryan Westrich won the 100-meter dash, with Suring’s Quinn Thomson placing second.

Westrich also won the discus, with Wittenberg-Birnamwood’s Landen Schmidt placing third.

In the long jump, Lena/Thomas Aquinas’ Lucas Heimke won the top spot, with Bonduel’s Sam Roberts in second.

Roberts won the triple jump.

Zander Thomson, of Lena/St. Thomas Aquinas won the 110-meter hurdles, with Suring’s Trent VanDenElzen placing second.

Positions flipped in the 300-meter hurdles, with VanDenElzen winning and Thomson in second.

Westrich placed second in the 200-meter dash. Bonduel’s Ben O’Brien placed second in the 3,200-meter run.

Anthony Seefeldt of Lena/St. Thomas Aquinas earned second place in the shot put, and Westrich was third.

Suring’s Jake Cornell earned third in the 400-meter dash. Bonduel’s Griffin Uelmen was third in the high jump.

In the girls competition, Faith Resch of Wittenberg-Birnamwood won the 100-meter hurdles, the 300-meter hurdles, the high jump and the triple jump.

In the triple jump, Bonduel’s Ashlyn Kurey placed second with Wittenberg-Birnamwood’s Nora Bushman in third.

Bonduel’s Mariah Wondra placed second in the 3,200-meter run, and Bushman was third.

Bushman earned the No. 2 spot in the 1,600-meter run, and Bonduel’s Teagan Engel was third.

Suring’s Ginger Gerndt placed second in the pole vault.

Taking second in the 4x400-meter relay were Kylee Beversdorf, London Metropolus, Ava Brei and Harper Rogowski of Wittenberg-Birnamwood. Taking third was the Bonduel team of Kurey, Wondra, Paige Niquette and Cierra Schnell.

Wittenberg-Birnamwood Kaydence Burclaw finished second in the discus, and teammate Kelsie Davis was third.

Rogowski placed third in the 400-meter dash. Davis was third in the shot put.

In the 4x100 relay, the Bonduel team of Josie Anvelink, Anna Beaumier, Olivia Giese and Sophie Smith placed third. Bonduel’s 4x200 team of Beaumier, Addison Raymakers, Giese and Niquette also placed third.

Kurey, Schnell, Teagan Engel and Wondra placed third in the 4x800 relay.

Alabama Lambert of Lena/St. Thomas Aquinas was No. 3 in the long jump.

Amherst Invite

Gresham/Bowler’s boys placed sixth and the girls are seventh out of eight teams at the Amherst Invite.

Lakeland Union topped the boys with 168 points; Gresham/Bowler scored 22. Newman Catholic won for the girls with 117 points; Gresham/Bowler had 27.

Bryson Nelson led the boys team with a second-place finish in the 3,200-meter run and third place in the 1,600-meter run.

The best finishes for the girls were Isabella Stevens’ second-place in the shot put, and Emily Jensen’s third place in the same event.
