Editor’s note: The Enterprise & News recently chatted with associate representative Miranda Borgemoen at the new Thrivent office in Hatley.

Q: What is your work/education background?
A: I attended University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point where I received my Bachelor of Arts in Spanish and my Bachelor of Science in business administration with a concentration in investments, finance and real estate. Once I graduated, I moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota, where I worked in commercial banking for the last few years.

Q: Where are you from?
A: I grew up in Hatley, specifically in St. Florian’s Catholic Church, and my parents are Jason and Jenny Resch. As a kid and teen, we would attend Mass, my brother and I would spend our summer decorating and cleaning the school for vacation bible school, and once I became confirmed, I helped out with Sunday School until I moved to Stevens Point for college.

My husband and I were married at St. Florian’s, and we have a golden retriever named Gaston. I like to call him my “golden” child. In my free time, I enjoy bowling at Resch Lanes in Wittenberg, cooking, traveling and spending time with my friends and family.

Q: What does your job entail?

A: My job is to be a comprehensive financial asset for people. It includes retirement planning and choosing appropriate short- and long-term disability insurance, mutual funds, money market and life insurance. Everyone is different, and we all have different financial goals and activities that are important to us. It’s my job to be a judgment-free zone to help individuals and families achieve their unique goals.

Q: What’s your philosophy for the need for these products and services.

A:We all have dreams that can range from going on vacation, to retiring or buying a new car, maybe helping our grandchildren or children go to college. We need to prepare for the unexpected via life and disability insurance to protect our loved ones. The products and services we offer help families have control over their finances to make these items more attainable and prepare for the unfortunate curves life can throw at us.

Q: Does Thrivent work via territories, or can you sell anywhere in Wisconsin or nationwide?

A: Thrivent has a nationwide presence in the financial services industry. Our Thrivent Pinnacle Team office is currently registered in Wisconsin, Minnesota, California, Florida, Arizona, Colorado and Michigan. There are four of us who make up the Thrivent Pinnacle Team. Travis Rose and Jean Greening work out of the Antigo office, Tyler Jozwiak works in the Green Bay/De Pere area. I chose the Hatley area to open an office as I’m familiar with the area and have clients in Wausau and Stevens Point.

Q: Where do you live, and what do you like about the office location in Hatley?

A: My husband and I live in Hatley. I spent two of my three summers in college living and working abroad and the last three years in Minneapolis, and I can attest to the saying that there’s no place like home. I love Hatley.

Q: Who or what was the inspiration for you becoming an agent?

A: Working in the corporate world, I would have to put on a different “hat” depending on where I was. Therefore I had a “hat” for wife, daughter, Christian, employee and Thrivent gives me an opportunity to get to wear all my “hats” at once and just be Miranda.

Travis Rose shared with me a great opportunity to join the Thrivent Pinnacle Team that was looking to expand its reach in Central and North Eastern Wisconsin.

Together our team has more than 38 years of combined experience with a certified financial planner on staff in helping Christians to be wise with their money in even the most complex financial situations.
