Heavy rain hampered play as seven goals were scored in Pulaski’s soccer sectional semifinal loss to West Bend West on Oct. 26.

The No. 4 Red Raiders lost 4-3 to the top-seeded West Bend team. West scored twice in each half, while Pulaski had one goal in the first half and two in the second.

“The weather made for a challenging evening for both squads,” Pulaski coach Jeff Schneider said.

The Spartans jumped on the board early with an unassisted goal from Franklin Kunfira in the seventh minute, and the Red Raiders were forced to play catch up for most of the match.

The teams traded goals throughout the game, but the Spartans managed to respond each time Pulaski cut into the lead. Kunfira led the way for West Bend West, scoring all four goals as the lone attacking threat for the Spartans.

Trailing 1-0, Pulaski’s Aran Capella tied the match at the 29th minute, only to see Kunfira score two minutes later and give the lead back to the Spartans.

In second half play, Kunfira put West up 3-1 with a goal at the 43rd minute. Maddox McKeefry of Pulaski scored at the 47th minute to tighten the score to 3-2.

However, Kunfira scored again at the 60th minute to put West up 4-2. Pulaski’s scoring ended in the 72nd minutes on a goal by Ben Uelmen.

West ended the night with nine shots on goal, while Pulaski had eight.

Pulaski’s Josh Roth recorded six saves, while West’s Brayden Voge notched five.

Pulaski’s season ends with a record of 15-7-1 and an appearance in the sectional level of state playoffs six of the past seven seasons.

West Bend West advanced to the sectional final against West De Pere.
