Pearl Braun-Gilbertson

Pearl Braun-Gilbertson, 89, Shawano, died Monday evening, Feb. 22, 2021, at ThedaCare Medical Center following complications from a recent stroke. She was born July 14, 1931, in Green Valley township to Frank and Eleanor (Peterson) Wendt. Pearl grew up in Green Valley where she attended Pleasant Valley Grade School.

On April 23, 1949, she married Leonard Braun, and the couple had three children together, David, Carmen and Ricky Allen who died at 16 days. After 17 years of marriage, Leonard died in a train accident. On June 3, 1967, she married Emerald “Jack” Gilbertson, and they enjoyed 37 years together living most of their lives in Green Valley. Pearl once worked at Green Bay Cheese in Gillett, sold Tupperware and Shacklee products, and handed out samples in grocery stores, particularly at Pick-N-Save in Shawano. She also enjoyed making crafts. Pearl was a member of Hillside Assembly of God Church in Gillett. Pearl will be lovingly remembered as a real people person who touched many lives, always putting others first while sharing her faith in Christ-like ways.

Survivors are her children, David (Cheryl) Braun, Gillett; Laurie (Tom) Thompson, Boulder Junction; Carmen (Gary Lambrecht) Braun, Gillett; Sherry (Rick) Jacobson, Cecil; Sheryl (David) Yancy, Green Bay; Jeff (Marjorie) Gilbertson, Dallas, Texas; Perry (Jodi) Gilbertson, Green Valley; 16 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; both her husbands; infant son, Ricky Allen; two half-sisters, Marjorie Severson and Dorothy Van Hoof; a half-brother, Kenny LaShy; and a special aunt and uncle, Marion and Bill Wendt.

Visitation will take place after 9 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 27, 2021, at Hillside Assembly of God Church in Gillett until the time of services. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at the church with Pastor Paul Carlson officiating.
