An Oconto man has been indicted in federal court for the production of child pornography.

An indictment filed this week in federal court alleged that Rocky R. Sonkowsky, 32, used a minor to create a “visual depiction” of a minor engaged in sexually explicit conduct.

The indictment alleged the conduct occurred between May 25 and June 15, 2021.

Sonkowsky was indicted Dec. 6 and his arraignment is scheduled for Dec. 14 before Magistrate James Sickel. Additional court dates are expected to be set then.

If convicted, Sonkowsky faces a mandatory minimum of 15 years in prison and a maximum of 30 years in prison, and a $250,000 fine.

This case was investigated by the Wisconsin Department of Justice’s Division of Criminal Investigation. It will be prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Daniel Humble.

He currently is in state custody, according to Department of Corrections online records.
