Proceedings of Oct. 23

Austin J. Sutrick, 19, Green Bay, formerly of Gillett, was placed on three years’ probation after a prison sentence was imposed and stayed for felony bail jumping and misdemeanor battery, in connection with an incident that occurred March 17; felony bail jumping and misdemeanor resisting or obstructing an officer, for a June 13 incident; and misdemeanor battery, in connection with an incident that occurred Aug. 5, 2019. Judge Jay N. Conley ruled that during probation, Sutrick must maintain absolute sobriety, undergo an alcohol and other drug abuse assessment and psychological evaluation and follow through with treatment. He was given credit for 136 days served in the county jail. If he violates probation terms, he could serve up to three years in prison followed by three years of extended supervision.

Austin Z. Steffen, 22, Menominee, Michigan, pleaded no contest to possession of methamphetamine, in connection with an incident that occurred May 2. Judge Michael T. Judge scheduled sentencing for Jan. 13 and ordered a pre-sentence investigation.

Trent J. Barnier, 23, Oconto Falls, pleaded no contest to strangulation and suffocation and misdemeanor criminal damage and disorderly conduct, in connection with an incident that occurred May 24. Judge Jay N. Conley approved a two-year deferred judgment agreement on the felony charge, withheld sentencing on the misdemeanors and placed Barnier on two years of probation, during which time he must maintain absolute sobriety and undergo an alcohol and other drug abuse assessment and treatment. The probation includes 90 days in the county jail with Huber work-release privileges to begin to begin no later than Dec. 1.

Bond was set at $1,500 cash for Jeremiah T. Irving, 24, Oconto, after he was charged with possession of methamphetamine and misdemeanor counts of possession of THC, bail jumping and possession of drug paraphernalia, in connection with an incident that allegedly occurred Oct. 21. His initial appearance was adjourned until Nov. 12.

Proceedings of Oct. 22

Alan L. Stock, 54, Oconto, stood mute and a not guilty plea was entered on his behalf to charges of attempted arson of a building and misdemeanor disorderly conduct, in connection with an incident that allegedly occurred Aug. 16. A motion hearing was scheduled for Nov. 20 and a status conference for Jan. 8.

Proceedings of Oct. 21

After a preliminary hearing Robert James Schneider, 46, Suring, was bound over and pleaded not guilty to second-degree reckless endangering safety, being a felon in possession of a firearm, possession of a short-barreled rifle, possession of methamphetamine, two counts of bail jumping and misdemeanor disorderly conduct, in connection with an incident that allegedly occurred Aug. 6, as well as felony bail jumping and misdemeanor resisting or obstructing an officer, in an alleged Feb. 29 incident. A bail/bond hearing was scheduled for Oct. 26.

After a preliminary hearing, Joshua M. Waschbisch, 32, Oconto, was bound over and pleaded not guilty to charges of possession of methamphetamine, maintaining a drug trafficking place, possession of narcotic drugs and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia, in connection with an incident that allegedly occurred April 30. A status conference was scheduled for Jan. 7.

Proceedings of Oct. 20

Kari A. Cooper, 44, Oconto, waived her right to a preliminary hearing and was bound over on 10 counts of burglary to storage units, in connection with incidents that allegedly occurred in April and May. Arraignment was scheduled for Nov. 12.

Joshua L. Zilkoske, 19, Oconto Falls, waived his right to a preliminary hearing and was bound over on three counts of causing a child to view sexual activity, in connection with an incident that allegedly occurred Oct. 1. Arraignment was scheduled for Nov. 12.

Jason J. Samsa, 33, Abrams, waived his right to a preliminary hearing and pleaded not guilty to burglary and misdemeanor theft, in connection with an incident that allegedly occurred May 6. A pretrial conference was scheduled for Dec. 10.

Proceedings of Oct. 19

Nathan S. Borkovec, 35, Lena, was placed on three years’ probation after a prison sentence was imposed and stayed for operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated (fourth offense), in connection with an incident that occurred Aug. 4, 2019. Judge Michael T. Judge ruled that probation will begin with a 200-day county jail sentence, with credit given for 58 days already served. During probation, Borkovec must maintain absolute sobriety and undergo an assessment and treatment for alcohol and other drug abuse. His license is revoked for 24 months, and he must install ignition interlock devices in any vehicles he owns or operates for 12 months. Should he violate the terms of probation, he could serve up to three years in prison followed by three years of extended supervision.

Skylarr S. Edwards, 25, Green Bay, was placed on three years’ probation after a prison sentence was imposed and stayed for fleeing an officer in a vehicle and misdemeanor counts of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated (third offense), resisting or obstructing an officer and bail jumping, in connection with an incident that occurred July 4. Judge Michael T. Judge ruled that probation will begin with a six-month county jail sentence, with credit given for 106 days already served. During probation, Edwards must maintain absolute sobriety and undergo treatment for alcohol and other drug abuse. His license is revoked for 24 months, and he also must install ignition interlock devices in any vehicles he owns or operates for 24 months. Should he violate the terms of probation, he could serve up to 1½ years in prison followed by two years of extended supervision.

Benjamin W. Buch, 19, Caroline, formerly of Oconto Falls, pleaded not guilty to two counts of second-degree sexual assault of a child, bail jumping and exposing himself to a child, in connection with an incident that allegedly occurred Jan. 1. A status conference was scheduled for Jan. 8.

Christopher Alan Barstow, 36, Marinette, pleaded not guilty to charges of possession of methamphetamine and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia and operating a motor vehicle while his license was revoked, in connection with an incident that allegedly occurred July 29. A motion hearing was scheduled for Nov. 20.
