Proceedings of Nov. 15

• Michael L. Christensen, 20, Suring, was sentenced to seven years in state prison, followed by eight years of extended supervision, for repeated sexual assault of the same child, in connection with incidents that allegedly occurred between June and September 2021, and battery by a prisoner, substantial battery intending bodily harm and misdemeanor disorderly conduct, in connection with an incident that occurred Aug. 25. Judge ruled that among conditions of extended supervision, Christensen may have no contact with the victim or her family and may have no contact with a minor under age 18 without approval of his corrections agent. He must obtain the equivalency of a high school diploma and full-time employment or part time if in school, and he must complete all assessments, counseling and treatment deemed necessary by his agent, including sex offender treatment. Christensen was given credit for 230 days already served in the county jail.

• Motions will be heard Dec. 8 in advance of the Dec. 13-14 jury trial for Jason T. Lipp, 35, Oconto, who is charged with first-degree reckless homicide, in connection with the Aug. 2, 2020, drug overdose death of an Oconto Falls man identified in the criminal complaint as B.S.S., and possession with intent to deliver heroin and maintaining a drug trafficking place, in connection with an incident that allegedly occurred April 19, 2021. District Attorney Hannah Schuchart said the trial will be handled by a special prosecutor from the state Department of Justice in order to fulfill Lipp’s demand for a speedy trial.

• Dale L. Hazelrigg, 73, Suring, waived his right to a preliminary hearing and was bound over on a charge of bail jumping, in connection with an incident that allegedly occurred Sept. 1. Arraignment was scheduled for Jan. 24. Meanwhile, a two-day trial beginning Nov. 30 was postponed because the state did not have an available prosecutor to try the case against Hazelrigg on a charge of second-degree sexual assault of a child, in connection with an incident that allegedly occurred July 1, 2021. Hazelrigg’s attorney indicated they would like to come to “a global resolution” of both cases.

• On a defense motion, Judge James A. Morrison dismissed charges against Edward Phillip Lindahl, 40, Green Bay, without prejudice because a request for prompt disposition filed last January was not followed. • A two-day trial beginning March 22 was scheduled for Benjamin W.
