New historical society forming in Oconto County

There will be an organizational meeting for a new historical society at 7 p.m. Oct. 10 in the community room at HSHS St. Clare Memorial Hospital, 855 S. Main St., Oconto Falls.

The tentative name for this new group will be the Central Oconto County Historical Society. Residents of Oconto Falls and surrounding area are invited to attend, including the towns of Oconto Falls, Morgan, Abrams, Stiles and Spruce as well as anyone else interested in history of the Falls area.

On the agenda for the first meeting will be selection of temporary officers and possible board members, establishing a membership fee and discussion of initial projects. Sample bylaws for this new organization as recommended by the state historical society will be presented for approval at a later meeting.
