The Milwaukee Brewers recorded 13 hits and walked seven times during a second straight win over the Chicago White Sox on Thursday in Chicago. Milwaukee is 5-5 on the season.

Jedd Gyorko led Milwaukee's offense with two hits and three RBIs. He hit a two-run home run in the fifth inning. Mark Mathias drove in the first two runs of his MLB career, while Orlando Arcia and Justin Smoak also had an RBI each.

Christian Yelich reached base five times, drawing four walks and being credited with an inside-the-park homer. He became the first Brewer to accomplish that feat.

Josh Lindblom picked up the win after striking out seven batters, a career high. He pitched five innings and surrendered just four hits and two runs. Freddy Peralta struck out six over the next three innings before Eric Yardley allowed an unearned run in the ninth.

White Sox 0

Adrian Houser turned in a brilliant outing to guide the Brewers to a tight win over the White Sox on Wednesday in Chicago.

Houser worked around five hits and two walks while pitching the first seven innings. He struck out five batters and induced three double plays. Houser threw just 87 pitches, 57 of which were strikes.

David Phelps worked a scoreless eighth inning before Josh Hader eased through the heart of the White Sox lineup in the ninth to pick up his second save.

Milwaukee’s run came in the third after three consecutive singles. Mathias collected his first MLB hit to start the inning before moving to second on an Arcia single to right field. Eric Sogard then singled to center to plate Mathias.

Brewers 2

The Brewers blew a two-run lead against the White Sox on Tuesday at Miller Park in Milwaukee.

Ben Gamel gave the Brewers a 2-0 lead after a two-run home run in the fifth inning. Chicago answered with a two-run homer off Milwaukee starter Brandon Woodruff in the sixth and then scored an unearned run in the seventh off Devin Williams to surge ahead.

Woodruff tallied six strikeouts in six innings of work. Brent Suter worked the final two innings.

Sogard tallied two of Milwaukee’s seven hits. The Brewers struck out 13 times.

The Brewers surrendered the game’s final four runs in a setback to the White Sox on Monday at Miller Park in Milwaukee. It was Milwaukee’s first game since July 29 after the team’s series with the St. Louis Cardinals was postponed because of positive COVID-19 cases on the Cardinals roster.

Avisail Garcia led the Brewers at the plate with two hits and three RBIs. Yelich broke out of a big slump with a pair of hits. Gamel also had two hits and drove in the team’s other run.

Phelps took the loss after allowing a run in an inning of work. Brett Anderson started and went three innings before Corbin Burnes came on and pitched the next 3 2/3 innings.

Corey Knebel and Yardley finished up the game. Every pitcher but Yardley gave up at least one run.
