The Menominee Casino Resort in Keshena remained closed Monday evening after a cyber attack that had closed the facility for a fourth day.

“We are currently experiencing technical difficulties due to an attempted external attack on our computer systems,” general manager Daniel Hansen said in a statement Monday. “We are actively working with law enforcement, cybersecurity and forensic experts to investigate and assess the impact caused by this attempt prior to bringing our systems back online.”

The casino and its Thunderbird Complex were closed Friday afternoon with what were described as “technical difficulties.”

The investigation is prioritizing the privacy of guests’ and team members’ secure information, Hansen said.

“At this time, we do not believe any secure information has been compromised,” he said. “If it is determined that the personal information of our guests or team members was exposed we will notify those affected individuals in writing. We appreciate our guests and team members patience as we move forward quickly and cautiously to restore all operations at Menominee Casino Resort.”

The gaming facility owned and operated by the Menominee Indian Tribe of Wisconsin was the state’s first Las Vegas style casino when it opened in June 1987. It usually is open 24 hours a day.
