Marie F. Fuhrman

Marie F. Fuhrman, 101, of Tigerton passed away Sunday, Nov. 24, at Shawano Place Senior Living.

The former Marie Florence Herrmann was born Nov. 21, 1918, in the town of Bartelme, Shawano County, to the late Christ and Mabel (Sieber) Herrmann. She was united in marriage on Dec. 25, 1938, to Vernon H. Fuhrman at Peace Lutheran parsonage in Tilleda. For many years, the couple dairy farmed in the town of Morris and retired in the mid-1970s. Her husband preceded her in death on April 5, 2007.

Marie is a former member of St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church, Bowler, where she was active with the Ladies Aid. Currently she is a member of Peace Lutheran Church, Tilleda.

Marie’s interests included working in her vegetable or flower garden; and canning lots of the produce that she grew. She was an excellent baker, especially breads; and her rye bread was very popular.

Marie loved animals, feeding and watching the birds. She planned and enjoyed making special toys and treats for her family. She liked reading the newspaper and church bulletins to keep up on current events. More recently, she loved corresponding with relatives and friends with cards and letters.

Survivors include three children, Carolee Orth, of Shawano, Rosalee Fuhrman, of Shawano, and Robert (Reva) Fuhrman, of Gresham. There are five grandchildren, Theresa Orth, Kenneth (Terri) Fuhrman, Diana Paltz, Joana (Kevin) Cross and Stefan (Kel) Fuhrman; and two step-grandchildren, Wendy and Wendel. There are five great-grandchildren, Kelcie Fuhrman, Kolton Fuhrman, Kate Paltz, Lauren Cross, and William “Will” Cross. She is further survived by a daughter-in-law, Mary Jo Fuhrman, of Mountain; and many other relatives and friends.

Marie was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon; a son, Vernon William Fuhrman; a great-grandson, Jack Kenneth Paltz; and a brother, Ralph Hermann.

Funeral service was held Friday, Nov. 29, at 11 a.m. at Beil-Didier Funeral Home in Tigerton. Pastor Lois Graper officiated, and burial followed at Peace Lutheran Cemetery in Tilleda. Visitation was held on Friday from 10 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to a charity of your own choice.

Our family wishes to thank all the nurses and staff at Homme Home, Heartland Hospice and Shawano Place for all love shown and care provided to Mom over the years.
