LETTER: Tax churches to care for mothers, children

To the editor:

The U.S. Supreme Court has overturned Roe vs. Wade, ruling that all abortions are illegal, including those performed for rape, incest or health of the mother.

In the state of Mississippi, 70% of abortions are performed on minority women. Most of these women are living in poverty. It seems that most of our Christian churches are for the fetus from conception until birth and then assume that the baby is on its own.

It’s time to tax all Christian churches that are against abortion. The tax would include all income from investments and property, plus income from all donations and collections. The money, along with public tax dollars, would be used in each state to assist those children born in poverty with their healthcare, nutrition and childhood services.

In addition, each state should have a quality orphanage system, as well as a foster home system to take care of the unwanted babies.
