Lena workshop looks at farm production costs

Farms have a pair of opportunities to get together with other farms to analyze expected production costs and help them prepare for the production season ahead.

The Extension offices of Oconto, Marinette, Shawano, and Langlade counties are sponsoring a workshop at 10:15 a.m. Jan. 17, at Lena Town Hall, 6087 Goatsville Road, Lena.

Both workshops will feature attendee discussion about their anticipated costs for various crop management practices, on a crop by crop basis. Regional crops/soils educator Scott Reuss will moderate the discussion and utilize an Excel spreadsheet through which the group will calculate expected per acre costs and revenues. The goal is to develop a reasonably accurate cost of production estimate for raising key crops in our region. The spreadsheet will be available to everyone.
