The Lena Lions Dairy Fest kicked off Sept. 7 with a 5K run/walk followed by an hourlong parade featuring the Lena High School band, the Pulaski band and several veterans groups.

The Lena Lions furnished the transportation costs and meals for the Pulaski band and publicly thanked them for a great performance. The Pulaski band surprised the crowd with a short concert on the festival grounds. The Lena Lions also provided meals for the Lena band members who represented their school and community. Many floats and entries promoted the area’s dairy and community businesses as well as several clubs and organizations. The parade marshals were Dick and Dolly Gilles.

Grounds activities following the parade included a petting zoo, pony rides, face painting, bouncers, balloons by Sidney, food venders, free ice cream, live music, and a truck and tractor pull. The event was cost-free to the community.

The winners of the Lions 50/50 raffle also held at the Dairy Fest were Betty Wagner from Oconto ($500) and Sharon Pennington from Lena ($381).
