Shawano School District Superintendent Kurt Krizan appears to be looking for other employment, as the West De Pere School District announced Feb. 16 that Krizan is one of the finalists for its vacant superintendent position.

Krizan sent out an email to parents and the media about the upcoming referendum, as well as the news about him being a finalist.

“As I’ve said before, my priorities are my family and my work here,” Krizan wrote. “As some of you know, I live over an hour’s drive from Shawano. There are many, many opportunities for superintendents in today’s job market. Only when my wife and I see a possible good fit for our family, do I investigate. Last evening, I was notified that I am a finalist for the School District of West De Pere. The district is publicizing the finalists today, and I want you to hear it from me first.”

This is the third time that Krizan has been a finalist for a superintendent position outside of Shawano. In 2023, Krizan was a finalist for the Menasha and Wrightstown school districts.

“Regardless of the outcome, I remain wholly committed to Shawano, this referendum, and leading this district effectively,” Krizan wrote.
