June L. Hanstedt

June Luella Hanstedt, age 96, passed away on Tuesday, July 12, 2022, in Shawano. She was born in Shawano on May 23, 1926, to the late Richard and Luella (Dobbs) Dickow. Her family moved to Gresham when she was 2 years old, where she attended public school and graduated from Gresham High School in 1943. June moved to Shawano and worked at Schultz Brothers Store. In 1945, she joined the United States Cadet Nurse Corp and entered the Bellin School of Nursing in Green Bay. June graduated in 1948 as a registered nurse and began her career at Shawano Hospital, where she took care of patients for 44 years. She enjoyed her career as an RN until her retirement in 1992. In 1951, June was united in marriage to Leslie Hanstedt at St. James Lutheran Church in Shawano. Together, they raised three children. He preceded her in death. In her spare time, June liked to be with her family and take care of her home. She enjoyed traveling, doing crafts, cooking and watching sports on TV.

She is survived by: her children, Nancy (Khlar Eckwahl) Hanstedt of Austin, Texas, and Mark Hanstedt of Shawano; and grandson, Paul Sadler of Shawano. She is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

June is preceded in death by her husband, Leslie; daughter, Mary Sadler; son-in-law, Joe Sadler; parents; brother, Richard Dickow; sisters, Betty Mae in childhood and Audrey Bohm; stepfather, Fred Thurk; sister-in-law, Barbara Dickow; brother-in-law, Milo Bohm; and parents-in-law, Elmer and Merle Hanstedt.

A memorial service for June will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 22, 2022, at Swedberg Funeral Home in Shawano with Pastor Andrew Zobel officiating. Visitation will be held at 9:30 a.m. until the time of service on Friday. Inurnment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Shawano.
