John Edward Schultz Sr.

John Edward Schultz Sr., 81, Town of Wescott, passed away on Wednesday, June 29, 2022, in Appleton. He was born July 2, 1940, to the late Clarence and Mabel (Duell) Schultz in Underhill. On Sept. 30, 1961, John was united in marriage to Carol J. Kuhn in Pulcifer. He worked for many years as an auto mechanic for Schneider National Transport. In his free time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and restoring cars.

John was an avid auto racer and well known at the Shawano Speedway, where he raced from 1958 to 1976. He was track champion in 1967 and 1968. John also raced at the USAC from 1972 to 1975, where he finished 10th in point standing. He loved his family and especially cherished the time spent with his great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Carol; children, Troy (Vauna) Schultz, Sharon (Kevin) Schultz-Barnard, Joann (David) Lyman and John (Julie) Schultz Jr.; six grandchildren, Brittney (Greg) Prokop, Tanya Lippert, Ashley (Jayme) Engen, Crystal Lyman, Joshua Lyman and Zac (Tara) Lyman; seven great-grandchildren; and brothers and sisters, Don (Marion) Schultz, Yvonne Trommer, James Schultz, Jerry (Judy) Schultz and Pam Tetting.

John was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Dick Schultz.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Saturday, July 9, 2022, from 1-4 p.m. at the family residence, 6490 Fox Lane in Shawano.
