VOLLEYBALL

Suring 3

Tigerton 0

Suring swept Tigerton in a nonconference clash on Sept. 1 in Suring. The Eagles won by scores of 25-13, 25-9, 25-9.

Christine Sleeter tallied 12 combined kills and five assists for Suring, while McKenzie Chesterfield had six combined kills. MaShya Seefeldt contributed 11 assists and four aces.

Trinity Remic and Bailey Stuart both had four digs for the Eagles. Macie Reed tallied five assists, while Stuart served three aces.

Skyler Hauser had four combined kills and eight digs for Tigerton, while McKenzie Hoffman had six digs and five assists. Abby Swartz and Jade Selle recorded four digs each.

Gresham 3

Wild Rose 0

Gresham eased to a Central Wisconsin Conference crossover win over Wild Rose on Sept. 1 in Gresham, winning by scores of 25-13, 25-11, 25-13.

Chloe Bohl led Gresham with 11 kills, while Jessa Jensen tallied 10 digs and nine kills. Lexi Baddmoccosin-Barnes posted a team-leading 12 assists.

Aria Irving had 13 service points for the Wildcats. Emma May had nine service points and five aces.

Gillett 3

Oneida Nation 0

Gillett picked up a Marinette & Oconto Conference victory over Oneida Nation on Sept. 1 in Oneida. The Tigers won by scores of 25-13, 25-23, 25-10.

Mia Soper had six kills and six digs for Gillett, while Halle Fisher contributed five kills, three aces and five digs. Bella Matczak served five aces and also had four digs.

Reece Franti finished the match with 10 digs for the Tigers, while Madison VanHaren had eight. Grace Baer and Cilena Guns chipped in five digs each.

Oconto Falls 3

Clintonville 1

Oconto Falls earned a North Eastern Conference win over Clintonville on Sept. 1 in Clintonville. The Panthers won by scores of 25-10, 25-23, 20-25, 25-16.

Brailyn St. Louis led Oconto Falls with 12 attack kills, while Amber Otto had 10 and Grace Molitor nine. Keira Cole chipped in six attack kills.

Kyndra Staidl served five aces and also had eight digs. Hanna Krejcarek posted 25 assists and three aces, while Madison Uelmen had 26 digs.

Otto tallied 18 digs for Oconto Falls. Morgan Moynihan was credited with 14 assists.

Marathon 3

Witt-Birn 1

Wittenberg-Birnamwood lost a nonconference match to Marathon on Sept. 1 in Wittenberg, losing by scores of 20-25, 25-22, 25-18, 25-20.

London Metropulos finished the match with 13 attack kills, 12 digs and three aces for Witt-Birn, while Reese Rogowski had 18 attack kills, 11 digs and three aces.

Payton Foster recorded 20 assists, 12 digs and five aces for the Chargers. Lilly Betry tallied 12 assists, while Halle Beversdorf and Layla Huffman had two block kills each.

CROSS-COUNTRY

Chargers' Salvesen wins another race

Wittenberg-Birnamwood freshman Rory Salvesen earned another top finish, this time at the Marathon Invitational on Sept. 1 in Marathon. She finished the race in 21 minutes, 12.6 seconds.

The Witt-Birn girls took ninth as a team with a score of 189. Jayden Zeinert took 39th in 28:05.6, while Annika Resch placed 64th in 31:14.1. Ava Hegewald (34:29.4) and Amelia Bessert (34:42.6) capped the team score by finishing 79th and 80th, respectively.

The Witt-Birn boys placed ninth with a score of 217. Craig Wendel placed 29th in 20:52.9 to lead the team.

Mason Meverden (21:40.7) took 43rd, while Jonas Bushman (21:43.9) was 46th. Owen Schultz (21:56) and Ian Salvesen (23:09.9) rounded out the team score, placing 49th and 63rd, respectively.

Gillett's Peterson 2nd at invitational

Alex Peterson led Gillett with a second-place individual finish at the De Pere Invitational on Sept. 1 in De Pere. He finished the race in 16:36.69 to help the boys team finish sixth with a score of 108.

Evan Peterson placed seventh for the boys in 17:52.55, while Bradyn Wendorff was 18th in 19:07.68. Nash Stage (21:13.31) claimed 45th, while Scott Herroux (21:18.99) took 46th to cap the team score.

The Gillett girls also took sixth, with a score of 152. Carleigh Kaczmarek led the team with a seventh-place finish in 22:12.56.

Sophie Limberg (24:43.76) finished 26th for the Tigers. Cheyenne Krueger (25:53.36), Laney DeBauch (27:35.54) and Lily Hansen (28:30.29) capped the five-runner team, placing 38th, 42nd and 46th, respectively.

Shawano teams 4th at invitational

Shawano also competed at the De Pere Invitational on Sept. 1 in De Pere. The boys team was fourth with a score of 85, while the girls took fourth with a mark of 104.

Ethan Onesti (17:07.78) and Will Chelberg (17:44.67) led the Shawano boys team, taking fourth and sixth, respectively. Andon Chelberg (18:59.86) claimed 15th, Connor Chelberg (19:23.3) took 24th and Jaymin Boivin (20:41.23) was 39th to cap the five-runner team.

Lily Guenther (21:38.81) took fourth, while Bailey Hendricks (21:57.26) was sixth for the girls team.

Maci Beyer (23:52.69) placed 21st for the Hawks. Jill Guenther (25:48) claimed 37th, while Anabelle Schroeder (26:10.17) was 40th.

Comins leads Lena/STAA boys at invitational

Dylan Comins placed 40th in 20:44.66 to lead a quartet of Lena/St. Thomas Aquinas Academy boys runners at the De Pere Invitational on Sept. 1 in De Pere.

Mason Belongia finished 44th in 21:12.09, while Reed Hosking was 55th in 22:22.06. Erik Kosch (23:45.59) placed 62nd for the co-op.

Bay Port 6

Pulaski 1

Pulaski was topped by Bay Port in a Fox River Classic Conference match on Sept. 1 in Green Bay.

Pulaski's Madeline Diefenthaler and Ruth Krause teamed up for a win at No. 1 doubles.

BOYS SOCCER

Pulaski 5

West De Pere 0

Pulaski pulled away from West De Pere in a nonconference battle on Sept. 1 in Pulaski.

Hudson Schultz gave Pulaski the lead with an unassisted goal in the 30th minute and then scored another unassisted goal in the 33rd minute. Austin Decker netted an unassisted goal in the 36th minute.

Lucas Stubbe scored off a Ryan Drafz assist in the 48th minute to make it 4-0. Donovan Holderness then set up Maddox McKeefry for the team's final goal in the 75th minute.

Pulaski goalie Mason Baker was credited with five saves in the contest. Pulaski outshot West De Pere 12-3.

Amherst 8

Gresham/Bowler 0

Gresham/Bowler dropped a Central Wisconsin Conference match to Amherst on Sept. 1 in Amherst.

Gresham/Bowler trailed 7-0 at halftime after playing about 20 minutes of the first half with one less player than Amherst after a first-half injury. The co-op battled with a full lineup in the second half before Amherst eventually met the mercy rule with about 10 minutes to play.

"It’s a group full of heart (that) never give up," said co-op interim coach Cory Bougie. "Small victories that hopefully we can build on moving forward."

FOOTBALL

Lena/STAA 42

Oneida/Green Bay NEW Lutheran 0

Lena/STAA dominated Oneida Nation/Green Bay NEW Lutheran in a Peninsula Conference 8-player game on Sept. 1 in Lena.

Sam Marquardt rushed for 151 yards and two touchdowns while throwing for 64 yards and another score to power Lena/STAA. He also returned a kickoff for a touchdown and led the co-op's defense by picking off a pass.

Calvin Peters and Logan Graef also rushed for touchdowns, while Ethan Braley caught Marquardt's touchdown pass. Lena/STAA also got two points from a safety.

Lena/STAA outgained Oneida Nation/Green Bay NEW Lutheran 328-15 in the contest.
