FOOTBALL

Bonduel 22

Crivitz 7

Sixth-seeded Bonduel upset third-seeded Crivitz on Oct. 21 in Crivitz. The Bears will head to No. 2 St. Mary’s Springs on Oct. 28 for their level two game.

Louis Hrabik gave Bonduel the lead with a 9-yard touchdown run in the first quarter. After Crivitz tied it, Noah Weier hit Josiah Basten on a 27-yard pass to give the Bears a seven-point lead at halftime.

Hrabik scored from 12 yards out to put Bonduel up 20-7 in the third quarter. A safety in the fourth quarter capped the scoring.

Hrabik rushed for 122 yards in the contest, while Weier had 55 passing yards. Basten hauled in three passes for 44 yards.

Lena/STAA 30

Gibraltar 21

The fourth-seeded Lena/St. Thomas Aquinas Academy co-op avenged its lone loss of the season by upsetting top-seeded Gibraltar on Oct. 21 in Fish Creek. The co-op outscored Gibraltar 22-8 in the second half.

Lena/STAA will take on No. 3 Wabeno/Laona on Oct. 28 for its next postseason game.

Sidney Sylvester hauled in an 11-yard touchdown pass from Sam Marquardt to give Lena/STAA an 8-6 lead late in the first quarter.

Marquardt rushed for scores of 17, 58 and 13 yards between the third and fourth quarters to power the co-op to victory. Marquardt finished with 194 rushing yards and 52 passing yards, while Logan Graef had 70 rushing yards. Tyler Shallow picked off a pass.

Marshfield 21

Pulaski 13

Fifth-seeded Pulaski fell a little bit short during a Division 2 level one playoff game against fourth-seeded Marshfield on Oct. 21 in Marshfield.

Marshfield led 14-0 at halftime before Pulaski scored twice in the third quarter to get within a point. Maverick Cole rushed for a 62-yard touchdown before Brock Steinbrecher intercepted a pass and returned it 40 yards for a touchdown. The hosts added a touchdown early in the fourth quarter for the game's final score.

Cole rushed for 123 yards in the contest, while Logan Shultz passed for 126 yards. Gatlin Robaidek led a balanced receiving corps with three catches for 58 yards.

Pulaski finishes the season with a 7-3 overall record.

Mosinee 50

Shawano 20

Seventh-seeded Shawano couldn’t slow second-seeded Mosinee during a Division 3 level one playoff game on Oct. 21 in Mosinee.

Shawano scored first on a 100-yard interception return by Michael Metcalf-Grassman, but Mosinee scored the final three touchdowns of the half and the first four touchdowns in the second half.

Jerzy Brocker tossed a 5-yard touchdown to Jacob Landon in the fourth quarter and later scored on a 1-yard run.

Shawano capped the season with a 3-7 overall record.

Freedom 49

Oconto Falls 22

Seventh-seeded Oconto Falls had its season come to a close after a Division 4 level one playoff loss to second-seeded Freedom on Oct. 21 in Freedom.

Freedom scored the game's first three touchdowns before Oconto Falls scored back-to-back touchdowns to tighten things up. Carter Hill connected with Kody Vorpahl on a 7-yard pass for the Panthers' first score and then Cole Bozile picked off a pass and returned it 40 yards for a score.

Freedom added two touchdowns and a safety in the first half and two more scores in the third quarter to run away with the lead. Skylar Dalton scored on a 3-yard run in the final quarter for the Panthers.

The Panthers finished the season with a 4-7 overall record, which included one forfeit win.

Kiel 16

Witt-Birn 6

Third-seeded Wittenberg-Birnamwood couldn't get much going offensively in a Division 5 level one playoff loss to sixth-seeded Kiel on Oct. 21 in Wittenberg.

Keegan Benbo scored Witt-Birn's touchdown after hauling in a tipped pass from Nathan Waupekenay.

Witt-Birn finishes the season with an 8-2 mark, which includes a forfeit win over Amherst.
