Suring/Gillett's Van Den Elzen 1st at invitational

Suring/Gillett's Trent Van Den Elzen continued his strong season with a first-place finish in the 152-pound weight class at the Peshtigo Invitational on Jan. 15 in Peshtigo.

Van Den Elzen finished 5-0 on the day, with four pins and a 3-0 decision win.

Mason Micoley (145) and Carter Whisman (160) each placed second for the co-op. Micoley went 3-1 on the day, with a win by pin, decision and injury default. Whisman went 3-1 also, with three wins by pin.

Keegan Rattin was the other Suring/Gillett wrestler in action, placing third at 145 pounds with a 2-2 mark. His wins were both by pin.

Oconto Falls' Magnin, Bozile take 2nd at invitational

Oconto Falls also took part in the invitational in Peshtigo, with Landon Magnin (113) and Hunter Bozile (120) claiming second.

Magnin was one of just two wrestlers at 113 pounds and lost his lone match by pin. Bozile went 2-1 on the day, with an 8-3 decision win and victory by injury default.

Andrew Derouin claimed third place at 106 pounds for the Panthers after going 2-2. His first win was by pin, while his other came by major decision.

Jeremy Earley was the other Panther in action, posting a 3-1 mark to claim fifth at 138 pounds. All three of his wins were by pin.
