Moegenburg, Esker help Witt-Birn place third

Two Wittenberg-Birnamwood wrestlers won their weight classes to help the team to a third-place finish at the Merrill Challenge on Saturday.

Wyatt Esker (145) and Chad Moegenburg (126) were the Chargers that took first, each posting 4-0 records after starting the day with byes. Esker won two matches by pin and two by major decision, while Moegenburg won by forfeit, fall, major decision and a decision.

Damien Wudtke (106), Pierson Potrykus (113), Will Urquhart (152) and David Gauderman (195) all finished second in their respective weight classes. Bryce Zoromski (132) came in third.

Witt-Birn earned 366.5 points as a team, behind only Prairie du Chien (433) and Merrill (374).

Bonduel comes in fifth at invitational

Bonduel posted a score of 204 to finish fifth at the 64th Fred Lehrke Invitational on Saturday in Schofield.

Bonduel was led by second-place finishes from Tyson Bogacz (120), Jayson Toellner (132) and Isaac Banker (195).

Alex Garside (220) placed third, while Max Sokolski (138), Kaden Bergsbaken (170) and Tristan Tomashek (182) all took fourth.

Stratford won the invitational, tallying 315 points.
