GIRLS BASKETBALL
The duo of Kara Troxel and Allaina Robaidek helped Bonduel pick up a nonconference win over Gillett on Tuesday in Bonduel.
Troxel scored 29 points to lead the way, while Robaidek added 15. Troxel scored 18 first-half points and Robaidek 13 as the Bears built a 37-23 halftime lead.
Josie Hoffman chipped in eight points for Bonduel.
Wittenberg-Birnamwood 54
Wausau East 30
Wittenberg-Birnamwood pulled away for a comfortable nonconference road win over Wausau East on Tuesday.
Emma Herb scored 20 points to lead Witt-Birn, while Abi Fraaza totaled 13 points, 13 rebounds and five assists.
Olivia Curley chipped in with nine points, four steals and four assists.
“We came out a little sluggish in the first half and didn’t finish very well,” said Witt-Birn coach Nick Mechelke. “We made some adjustments and put more ball pressure on them. We just executed better in the second half to extend our lead.”
Menominee Indian 65
Tigerton 39
Menominee Indian knocked off Tigerton in a Central Wisconsin Conference crossover matchup Tuesday in Keshena.
Mimi Beaulieu-Morgan scored 22 points to lead Menominee Indian, while Alyssa Corn chipped in with 11 points.
“We didn’t play with a lot of energy in the first half. We challenged our starters at halftime, and they responded by really putting the game away early,” said Menominee Indian coach Michael Skenadore.
Rosholt 68
Marion 21
Marion couldn’t keep up with Rosholt in a CWC crossover matchup Tuesday in Rosholt.
Eden Brennan scored eight points and grabbed six rebounds for Marion. Tessa Brei totaled seven points and two blocks, while Kyla Zillmer had five rebounds and three steals.
“We were short numbers, only having nine girls to start, and after foul trouble had to send out some girls with little experience,” said Marion coach Brad Fischer. “Rosholt took advantage and double-teamed the ball hard, which led to too many easy points for Rosholt.”
BOYS BASKETBALL
Bonduel 55
Crandon 37
Bonduel eased to a nonconference victory Tuesday in Crandon.
Cole Letter led a balanced Bonduel offensive attack, scoring 16 points. Carson Robaidek chipped in 13 points, while Dylan Springborn tallied 10.
Bonduel led by 22 points at halftime after holding Crandon to 12 first-half points.
Port Edwards 74
Gresham 61
Gresham dropped a CWC crossover clash to Port Edwards on Tuesday in Gresham.
Will Jensen scored 16 first-half points and finished with 22 for the game to lead Gresham.
Waylon Welch added 16 points for the Wildcats, while Raven Bennett and Jake Hoffman had eight points each.
Jensen and Welch grabbed seven rebounds each. Bennett had three assists and three steals.
Coleman 57
Wittenberg-Birnamwood 50
Wittenberg-Birnamwood dropped a back-and-forth nonconference battle to Coleman on Tuesday in Wittenberg.
Brendan Resch scored 19 points to lead Witt-Birn on offense. Austin Gibson added 12 points, while Simon Stewart chipped in eight.
“We lost vision of the ball too much tonight defensively and failed to make the easy pass on the offensive end of the floor when it mattered,” said Witt-Birn coach Garrett Rogowski.
