Shawano 5

Shawano came up on the wrong end of a high-scoring clash at Waupaca on Friday.

Johnny Dillenburg recorded a hat trick to lead Shawano on the offensive end. Andrew Puissant and Ryan Wegenke added a goal each.

Wegenke was also credited with two assists on the night. Goalie Caleb Davids made 33 saves.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Wittenberg-Birnamwood 63

Menominee Indian 42

Wittenberg-Birnamwood earned a Central Wisconsin Conference-East Division victory over Menominee Indian on Friday in Keshena. Witt-Birn outscored the hosts 37-14 in the first half to take control.

Emma Herb totaled 16 points and nine rebounds for Witt-Birn, while Abi Fraaza had 12 points, six rebounds and five assists. Olivia Curley posted nine points and six assists, while Amara Schoepke and Reese Rogowski had eight points each.

“We had a decent first half tonight,” said Witt-Birn coach Nick Mechelke. “We shot well from outside, which was nice to see. That led us to get some easy baskets down low. I give Menominee Indian a lot of credit — they shot the ball well tonight behind the arc as well.”

Mimi Beaulieu-Morgan scored 18 points to pace Menominee Indian in the loss. Alyssa Corn added 13 points, while Senihseah Wayka had nine.

Gresham 50

Tigerton 29

Gresham eased to a CWC-North win over Tigerton on Friday in Gresham.

Valarie Cerveny had a big game to lead Gresham, scoring 23 points. Cerveny tallied 16 first-half points. Makayla Belongia added seven points for the Wildcats.

Adrienne Brady scored nine points for Tigerton, while Bethany Jobe had eight.

Clintonville 68

Little Chute 52

Clintonville dominated the first half and went on for a North Eastern Conference victory on Friday in Little Chute. The Truckers led 40-22 at halftime.

Erin Viergutz scored 21 points for Clintonville, while Jordan Lehman tallied 14. Abby King finished with 10 points, while Selina Torrez had seven.

Lehman grabbed 11 rebounds, while Viergutz had 10 and Elly Arndt eight. Arndt and King each posted four assists.

"I couldn't be prouder of this group of girls. We just beat a very good Little Chute team at their place," said Clintonville coach Nick Yaeger. "The key was the fast start to the game getting up I think 16-3, and then also the fast start to the second half starting on a 10-0 run I believe."

Bonduel 60

Weyauwega-Fremont 27

Bonduel outscored Weyauwega-Fremont 31-8 during the first half before cruising to a CWC-East win on Friday in Bonduel.

Kara Troxel hit six 3-pointers and led Bonduel with 20 points. Allaina Robaidek stuffed the stat sheet with 10 points, seven rebounds, five steals and three assists. Breanna Schnell totaled nine rebounds.

"Defensively we played well, and our pressure turned into some easy looks," said Bonduel coach Jerry Reinke. "The kids came out and played with great energy."

WRESTLING

Witt-Birn places second at invitational

Wittenberg-Birnamwood scored 170 points to place second at the Neenah Invitational on Friday. Neenah took first with 199 points.

Witt-Birn's Pierson Potrykus (113) and Wyatt Esker (152) took first place in their respective weight classes after going 3-0 and earning all three wins by pin.

Damien Wudtke (106), Chad Moegenburg (126), David Gauderman (195) and Allen Uttecht (285) all came in second for the Chargers after 2-1 nights on the mat.

Bryce Zoromski (138) and Will Urquhart (160) each took fourth place after posting 2-2 records.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Seymour 75

Shawano 69

Shawano was unable to overcome a 10-point halftime deficit in a Bay Conference loss to Seymour on Friday in Shawano. It was the Hawks first loss of the season.

Carter Weisnicht finished with 27 points to pace Shawano on offense. Nick Sherman added 21 points.

Kaleb Lowney scored all 10 of his points in the second half.
