FOOTBALL

Coleman 44

Bonduel 14

Bonduel was unable to stop Coleman's running attack in a nonconference battle on Aug. 26 in Bonduel. Coleman scored all six of its touchdowns on the ground.

Louis Hrabik had Bonduel's first touchdown on an 11-yard run in the third quarter. Noah Weier completed an 18-yard touchdown pass to Cade Johnson in the fourth quarter for the other score.

Gaven Vance intercepted a pass in the first half for the Bears.

Bonduel is now 0-2 on the season.

McDonell Central 54

Bowler/Gresham 14

Bowler/Gresham couldn't slow McDonell Central in a nonconference matchup on Aug. 26 in Bowler.

Beau Brunner scored both of the co-op's touchdowns on runs of 20 and 54 yards. Brunner and Ashwuut Mohawk each caught five passes in the contest.

Quarterback Emmitt Kietlinski passed for 110 yards and rushed for 51 more. Zach Ziemer led the team's defense with four tackles.

CROSS-COUNTRY

Witt-Birn girls 3rd, boys 5th at invite

The Wittenberg-Birnamwood girls team took third with a team score of 77, while the boys came in fifth with a mark of 105 during the Pittsville Invite on Aug. 26 in Pittsville.

Ruby Nowinsky led the girls team with a 10th-place finish in 24 minutes, 29.5 seconds. Ave Hegewald (29:58.9) took 28th, while Annika Resch (30:45) was 32nd. Ava Wepner (32:27.5) and Amelia Bessert (35:41.9) capped the five-runner team, placing 38th and 43rd, respectively.

Simon Schairer led the Witt-Birn boys with a ninth-place finish in 20:13.9, while Craig Wendel took 13th in 20:38.8. Mason Meverden (22:05.1) placed 24th, Joey Seegmiller (24:16.4) was 41st and Owen Schultz (24:19.6) took 43rd.

Pierson Potrykus (25:23.3), Hayden Miller (29:13.2) and Dustin Welch (29:20.8) capped the eight-runner team, finishing 50th, 59th and 60th, respectively.

Nelson leads Gresham/Bowler boys at invite

Bryson Nelson placed 40th with a time of 24:08.3 to lead a pair of Gresham/Bowler runners at the Pittsville Invite.

Isaiah Bestul was the team's other runner, taking 62nd in 31:18.

No Gresham/Bowler girls competed at the invite.

Stuhr, Much lead Marion at invitational

Jaden Stuhr and Bridget Much led the Marion cross-country teams at the Amherst Invitational on Aug. 26 in Stevens Point.

Stuhr was the top finishing boys individual for the Mustangs, placing 37th in 22:02.3. Much was the top runner for the Marion girls, taking 53rd in 31:41.1.

Jackson Krohn (24:45.1) and Jesse Trebus (25:52.1) also ran for the boys team, taking 62nd and 65th, respectively.

Kelsey Zillmer (32:27.9) and Nora Wiesman (35:04.3) placed 57th and 59th, respectively, to round out the girls team.

BOYS SOCCER

Pulaski 0

Green Bay East 0

Pulaski settled for a tie with Green Bay East in a nonconference match on Aug. 26 in Green Bay.

Pulaski was credited with 10 shots, but weren't able to sneak any past the Green Bay East goalie.

Pulaski goalie Mason Baker made four saves to record the shutout.

VOLLEYBALL

Gresham goes 1-2 at tournament

Gresham topped Prentice (25-21, 25-21, 11-15) but lost to Mercer (25-22, 23-25, 15-10) and Three Lakes (25-17, 25-15, 15-12) during a tournament on Aug. 26 in Three Lakes.

In the win over Prentice, Hannah Cerveny totaled 12 assists, with Valarie Cerveny having six kills. Maddie Haffner finished with nine service points and Kalayla Tucker chipped in six digs.

In the setback to Mercer, Haffner had 11 digs, with Tucker tallying nine service points. Valarie Cerveny had nine kills and Hannah Cerveny contributed 17 assists.

Against Three Lakes, Hannah Cerveny posted 12 assists and 10 digs, while Valarie Cerveny racked up 10 total kills. Haffner served four aces and had 11 service points.

Tigerton places 2nd at invitational

Tigerton earned wins over Phelps (25-4, 25-9), Elcho (25-9, 25-19), Marion (25-12, 25-10) and Wisconsin Valley Lutheran (25-13, 21-25, 15-10) and lost to Menominee Indian (25-16, 25-21) to claim second place at the Marion Invitational on Aug. 26 in Marion.

Skyler Hauser finished the day with 55 total kills, 45 digs, 39 service points and 15 aces, while Elizabeth Robbins had 49 assists, 35 service points and five aces. Abby Swartz tallied 13 attack kills, 27 digs, 20 service points and 11 aces.

Samantha Suehring contributed 28 service points, 14 digs and nine aces, while Jaycee Hoppe-Schmidt had 19 service points, 28 digs and six aces.

Bethany Jobe tallied 10 total kills for the Tigers, Mary Kreklow recorded 10 assists and Angel Welch had 14 service points and four aces.
