Bonduel wins home invite

Bonduel finished a perfect 4-0 at its home invite on Aug. 25 in Bonduel. The Bears defeated Gresham (25-18, 25-16), Two Rivers (25-17, 25-18), Shiocton (25-17, 25-15) and Green Bay West (25-8, 25-11) on the night.

In the win over Gresham, Bonduel’s Audrey Weier had seven kills and six digs. Hailee Thompson finished the match with 15 assists, while Nakiyah Henning tallied 10 digs and three kills and Abby Stoltenow had four kills.

Thompson recorded 18 assists against Two Rivers, with Weier and Henning posting seven kills each and Josie Anvelink contributing eight digs. Thompson had 14 assists against Green Bay West. Maddy Sokolski and Bella Delzer tallied seven and six kills, respectively, while Gracyn Wudtke served three aces.

Weier posted seven kills and seven digs against Shiocton. Henning added seven kills and five digs, while Stoltenow had eight digs. Thompson finished with 17 assists and five aces.

Gresham finishes 2-2 at invite

Gresham defeated Green Bay West (25-14, 25-17) and Two Rivers (25-20, 20-25, 16-14) and lost to Shiocton (25-21, 20-25, 15-13) along with its loss to Bonduel at the Aug. 25 invite in Bonduel.

Jessa Jensen tallied six service points and five digs against Bonduel, while Maddie Haffner had five digs and Lexi Baddmoccosin-Barnes had five service points. Baddmoccosin-Barnes finished with 14 assists against Shiocton. Chloe Bohl recorded nine kills, while Josie Cerveny had eight service points and five digs.

In the win over Green Bay West, Bohl had six kills and five digs. Baddmoccosin-Barnes finished with six assists, Haffner tallied seven service points and Janay Pecore-Kirkland had five kills.

Baddmoccosin-Barnes was credited with 11 assists against Two Rivers, with Haffner leading the team with eight kills. Jensen posted six kills, and Pecore-Kirkland had 14 service points.

Tigerton finishes 2-1 at invite

Tigerton was topped by Menominee Indian (25-20, 25-15) but won matches against Marion (25-10, 25-13) and Elcho (22-25, 28-26, 15-9) during an invite Aug. 25 in Marion.

Over the three matches, Tigerton’s Skyler Hauser finished with 39 combined kills, 19 service points, 11 digs and three aces. Abby Swartz tallied 20 digs and 10 combined kills, while McKenzie Hoffman had 28 assists, 27 service points, nine digs and five aces.

Samantha Suehring finished the night with 17 service points and 15 digs for the Tigers. Jade Selle was credited with 13 service points, while McKenzie Miller had 12 service points and three aces.

Marion 0-3 at home invite

Marion dropped matches to Elcho (25-10, 27-25) and Menominee Indian (25-16, 25-18) along with its loss to Tigerton during its home invite on Aug. 25 in Marion.

Emma Rasmussen had four kills for Marion in the loss to Elcho. Dakotah Yonker tallied six assists.

Against Menominee Indian, Rasmussen recorded three kills, while Yonker had five assists.

Lena goes 1-1 at triangular

Lena topped Gillett (25-23, 25-22, 22-25, 25-15) but lost to Niagara (18-25, 25-10, 24-26, 25-12, 15-11) during a triangular Aug. 25 in Lena.

In the win over Gillett, Natalie McNurlen tallied 11 attack kills and six digs for Lena. Claire Brooks had 10 combined kills, while Peyton Dorow had four attack kills. Makynna Herald finished with 19 assists.

McNurlen totaled 10 combined kills against Niagara, with Brooks and Dorow tallying six combined kills each. Dorow also had eight digs, while Herald tallied 13 assists.

Suring splits matches at triangular

Suring split its two matches during a triangular on Aug. 25 in Suring.

The Eagles topped St. Thomas Aquinas Academy by scores of 25-8, 25-15, 25-7, but lost to Crivitz, 25-23, 25-18, 20-25, 25-23.

BOYS SOCCER

Pulaski 4

Marshfield 2

Pulaski doubled up Marshfield in a nonconference match on Aug. 25 in Pulaski.

Ryan Drafz and Alex Kouzov netted a goal each in the first half for Pulaski, with Chase Ambrosius assisting on Kouzov’s goal.

Drafz and Jack Ryan scored for Pulaski in the second half. Hayden Burkel and Corbin Tackmier were credited with the assists.

Pulaski goalie Mason Baker had six saves in the winning effort.

CROSS-COUNTRY

Witt-Birn’s Salvesen wins 1st race

Wittenberg-Birnamwood freshman Rory Salvesen won the Pittsville Invite on Aug. 25 in Pittsville. Salvesen posted a time of 21 minutes, 52.1 seconds to help the team to a fourth-place finish.

Danica Tomson placed 17th in 26:56.6 for the Chargers. Annika Resch (32:40.1), Ava Hegewald (33:40.9) and Jayden Zeinert (34:45.4) capped the team score by placing 52nd, 56th and 59th, respectively.

The Witt-Birn boys placed seventh, led by Craig Wendel’s 23rd-place finish in 21:45.7. Jonas Bushman (22:37.5), Mason Meverden (22:54.6), Owen Schultz (24:00.3) and Hayden Miller (24:41) capped the team score, placing 35th, 40th, 50th and 54th, respectively.

Gresham/Bowler had three boys compete. Bryson Nelson led the way with a 25th-place finish in 22:08.4. Kevin Miller took 67th in 26:24.3, while Kobe Miller was 80th in 30:48.4.

Stuhr leads Marion at invitational

Marion's Jaden Stuhr led Marion during the Amherst Invitational on Aug. 25 in Stevens Point. Stuhr placed 33rd in the boys race with a time of 22:35.

Tristan Herro (24:12.2) and Jesse Trebus (25:40.8) also ran for the Marion boys, placing 42nd and 49th, respectively.

Bridget Much (34:49.4) and Kelsey Zillmer (36:05.6) ran for the Marion girls, taking 45th and 49th, respectively.

Bonduel 15

Bonduel dropped a nonconference game to Coleman on Aug. 25 in Coleman.

Louis Hrabik gave Bonduel the lead with a 1-yard touchdown run in the first quarter. Gaven Vance caught a 44-yard touchdown pass from Noah Weier in the fourth quarter for the team’s other score.

Weier completed seven of his 17 pass attempts for 101 yards, while Hrabik finished with 56 rushing yards and Vance had 70 receiving yards.

Judah Griesbach was credited with a sack on defense, while Vance recovered a fumble.

Waupun 54

Menominee Indian 0

Menominee Indian couldn’t get much going offensively during a nonconference loss to Waupun on Aug. 25 in Keshena.

Waupun led 26-0 after a quarter and 40-0 by halftime.

The Eagles fell to 0-2 on the season.

GIRLS GOLF

Shawano leads area teams at invite

Shawano earned a team score of 68 during a four-person scramble on Aug. 25 at Mid Vallee Golf Course in De Pere. Bay Port won the event with a score of 64, while Wrightstown tallied a 67.

Pulaski, Bonduel and Oconto Falls also competed at the scramble. Pulaski took eighth with a mark of 72 while Bonduel and Oconto Falls tied for 13th with an 80.
