BASEBALL

Marion 16

Manawa 6

Marion eased past Manawa in a Central Wisconsin Conference-North Division matchup April 18 in Manawa.

Nick Malueg and Jackson Krohn each tallied three hits to lead Marion at the plate. Krohn drove in three runs and scored four times, while Malueg had two RBIs and two runs scored.

Jack Van Kooy added two hits and scored three runs for the Mustangs. Jaden Stuhr drove in five runs.

Ryan Malueg picked up the win on the mound after working three innings, surrendering three earned runs and striking out five batters. Stuhr pitched three innings, striking out three and allowing two earned runs. Nick Malueg worked the final inning, striking out two batters.

Shawano 5

Menasha 3

A five-run fourth inning propelled Shawano past Menasha in a Bay Conference battle on April 18 in Shawano.

Ashton Henning had the big hit in the fourth, clearing the bases with a double. He earned the win on the mound after striking out eight batters over four frames. Henning allowed three runs on four hits and four walks.

Joey Sperberg pitched two scoreless innings for the Hawks before Andrew Popp stranded a pair of baserunners in the seventh to seal up the win.

Zac Jurmu tallied three of Shawano’s six hits.

SOFTBALL

Shawano 13

Clintonville 7

Shawano earned a high-scoring win over Clintonville in a nonconference clash on April 18 in Shawano.

The Hawks scored four runs in the first inning, three in the second, five in the fourth and one in the fifth. Shawano drew six walks and took advantage of five Clintonville errors. The hosts stole 13 bases in the contest.

Elizabeth Kary drove in three runs for Shawano, while Abby Bystol and Braylyn Babino had two RBIs each. Margo Gull, Brianna Wright and Bystol scored three runs each.

Babino picked up the win after pitching the first four innings. She allowed four earned runs on seven hits and five walks while striking out six. Bystol worked the final three frames, allowing an earned run and striking out three.
