High school football season begins this week
Shawano’s 2023 football season will begin with four non-conference games — Aug. 18 at Little Chute, an Aug. 25 home game against Denmark, Aug. 31 at Fox Valley Lutheran in Appleton and a Sept. 8 home game against Luxemberg-Casco.
Five games in the Bay Conference follow.
The Hawks first conference opponent of 2023 will be Waupaca, with a 7 p.m. kickoff Sept. 15. Shawano will travel to Winneconne on Sept. 22 and then travel to Xavier High School in Appleton on Sept. 28 (a Thursday night game). The last home game of the season will be Oct. 7 (1 p.m. Saturday) against New London, and the last game of the regular season will be at Seymour on Oct. 13.
Also, on Aug. 18, Bonduel will travel to Two Rivers. Oconto Falls will host Oconto, Pulaski will host Notre Dame, and Wittenberg-Birnamwood will host Antigo.
Other season openers will be held later this month.
Lena will host Wausaukee in 8-man football on Aug. 25, and Tigerton/Marion will play Wabeno/Laona at Marion that same night.
Menominee Indian will host Wonewoc-Center on Saturday, Aug. 26. Suring will host Gibraltar in 8-man football on Thursday, Aug. 31.
Finally, Gillett’s 8-man team will host Suring on Sept. 8.
