NEW Credit Union is seeking applications for the 18th annual Harold P. Heckendorf Community Service Award, which is open to anyone who has displayed exemplary community service and volunteerism.

Harold P. Heckendorf served as a volunteer on the credit union’s board of directors for 20 years, serving as chairman much of that time. He died in 2001 at age 77.

In addition to his service to the credit union, Heckendorf was involved in getting the Oconto Falls Area Ambulance service started and was active in the Oconto Falls Area Chamber of Commerce and American Legion Post 302. He worked for the former Scott Paper Company for 37 years in electrical maintenance and was past president of the union local. He also taught Sunday school and was on the church council of Grace Lutheran Church in Oconto Falls.

There is no age limit on this award. The recipient will receive a commemorative plaque, a cash award of $250 and a matching donation to the charity of their choice.

Nomination forms can be picked up at any office of NEW Credit Union or call 920-848-2793 to have one mailed, or find the forms online at www.newcu.org/pdf/CommunityServiceAward.pdf.

Deadline for all application is Jan. 27. The award will be presented Feb. 25 at the 58th annual NEW Credit Union membership meeting.
