Hawks' Eggert the girls golf Conference Player of the Year in Bay

Shawano team takes 2nd in Bay

The Shawano Community High School girls golf team placed second at the final Bay Conference meet on Sept. 21 at Wander Springs Golf Course in Greenleaf.

Xavier was the top team finisher on the day with a score of 389, with Shawano posting a 391.

The Hawks also finished second in the conference standings, with West De Pere grabbing the title.

Sophia Eggert fired an 18-hole round of 90 to finish as the meet medalist and as the Conference Player of the Year.

“It feels great. I’ve worked very hard and it is a great accomplishment, and I was looking forward to my season with the Hawks all summer,” said Eggert of earning the honor. “My hard work paid off and I am really grateful.”

Teghan Kristof fired a round of 91 for the Hawks. Riley Dreier (103), Braylyn Babino (107) and Alli Johnson (130) capped the Hawks’ team.

Eggert and Kristof each made the all-conference first team, with Babino and Dreier on the honorable mention list.

Bonduel placed seventh at the final meet, with Sarah Garside leading the team with a round of 103. Bonduel had a team score of 432.

Thea Tauchen (107), Ava Pleshek (109), Kerry O’Harrow (113) and Meghan Wondra (117) filled out the team.

Bonduel finished seventh in the conference standings. Garside made the all-conference honorable mention team.
