Harold V. Klund

Harold V. Klund, 93, of Gresham, passed away Thursday, Nov. 7, 2019, at Evergreen Care Center in Shawano.

Harold Vernon Klund was born Aug. 16, 1926, in the town of Morris, Shawano County, to Glen and Bertha (Erickson) Klund. He entered the U.S. Army and served over in Korea from 1952 to 1954. After the military, Harold returned home to the family dairy farm in the town of Morris to continue working with his parents and his brother, Arnold.

He also did several other jobs over the years, including serving as tax assessor for the town of Morris; and he did custom combining for lots of neighboring farms as well. In 1992, after his brother, Arnold, passed away, Harold moved to Gresham, where he lived for many years.

Harold is a lifelong member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, where he was active as an usher. He enjoyed reading, working hard and helping others — especially making maple syrup with his cousins.

Survivors include his brother, Alton Klund, of Milwaukee; and six nieces, two nephews, many cousins and other friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Arnold; and two sisters, Mildred (Roy) Kraft and Betty Ohlemiller.

Funeral service will be held Wednesday, Nov. 13, at 11 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church, town of Morris. Pastor John Hielsberg will officiate, and burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Military honors will be provided at the church by members of the American Legion Post 239 in Tigerton. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 10 a.m. until time of service at the church.

Beil-Didier Funeral Home in Tigerton is assisting the family. Memorials are preferred in Harold’s memory to Immanuel Lutheran Church.

The family would like to thank all the nurses and staff at Evergreen for the compassionate care given to Harold. We also wish to thank Harold’s cousin, Karen Wurth, and her husband, Don, for all the love and support they provided to him in his later years.
