Gresham/Bowler girls 3rd, boys 4th at track and field invite

The Gresham/Bowler girls track and field team took third, while the boys team placed fourth at the Marion Mustang Invite on April 25 in Marion.

The Gresham/Bowler girls team scored 82 points, behind Manawa’s 192 points and Shiocton’s 84. Menominee Indian came in fourth with 66 points, while Tigerton was sixth with 14 points and Marion eighth with four points.

For the boys, Gresham/Bowler tallied 52 points, behind Iola-Scandinavia’s 156, Manawa’s 152 and Shiocton’s 64. Menominee Indian claimed fifth with 32 points.

Gresham/Bowler’s Valarie Cerveny won the girls shot put with a throw of 31 feet, 11 inches. Emmitt Kietlinski won the boys triple jump (42-9) and high jump (6-0), while Bryson Nelson was the top finisher in the boys 3,200-meter run with a time of 11 minutes, 54.99 seconds.

Menominee Indian’s 4x200 relay team of Ashlee Corn, Alezaha King, Emma Komanekin, Cali Shawano placed first in 1:58.01. Komanekin also set a new school record in the 400 dash with a time of 1:05.71.

Darus Davis led the Menominee Indian boys with a top finish in the 400 (58.2).

Tigerton’s top finish came from Elizabeth Robbins, who placed third in the 200 (29.29).

Marion’s best individual finish was from Bridget Much, who took ninth in the 100 hurdles (26.11).
