GRESHAM — The annual Gresham Farm Heritage Day, set for Saturday has been canceled.

A Wednesday post on the Gresham FFA Alumni Facebook page said the cancellation was “in respect for our farming families in their time of grief. After consulting with members of the board and family members, this decision has been made with great sadness upon losing a valued member of our Alumni and community.”

The post refers to longtime FFA Alumni member Tim Paiser, 54, who died in a logging accident Monday Sept. 23, according to the Shawano County Sheriff’s Department. He operated a dairy farm with sons Travis and Trevor in the town of Richmond.

The FFA Alumni post said the group will hold its tractor/prize money raffle drawing by the Gresham Utilities office 3 p.m. Saturday as planned, and tickets will be for sale until the drawing.

The Farm Heritage event has featured vendors and a farmers’ market, as well as agricultural demonstrations.

Services for Paiser are scheduled for 11 a.m. on Friday at St. Francis of Solanus, Gresham, with the Rev. Joel Jores officiating. Burial will be in the St. Francis of Solanus Cemetery. The parish wake service will be at 7 p.m. at the Swedberg Funeral Home, Gresham. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 4-8 p.m. Thursday and Friday at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service.
