Gordon M. Hauser, 95, of Tigerton passed away peacefully of COVID-19 on Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2020, at The Pines Post Acute and Memory Care in Embarrass.

Gordon Michael Hauser was born May 10, 1925, in Brothertown to Antone and Margaret (Vollmer) Hauser. He attended school in Tigerton, graduating from eighth grade in 1939. He worked for several farms in the Tigerton area. At the age of 18, he moved to Fond du Lac to work at a few different farms there.

After receiving his draft notice for the U.S. Army, he entered the military in 1943. Gordon served mostly in Germany with the 574th Anti-Aircraft Battalion / Battery C as a machine gun crewman under combat conditions. He earned the American Theater Service Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Service Medal and a Good Conduct Medal.

Gordon was united in marriage on Oct. 31, 1954, to Alice Sell Marchini in Waupaca. The couple lived in Lannon, where they owned and operated a sand and gravel trucking business. In 1961, they bought a tavern, Gordon and Alice’s Bar and Restaurant in Caroline. During this same time, he also ran a field stone business. In 1965, Gordon and Alice settled in Tigerton where he ran his fieldstone and fireplace business full time. He was very proud of the many fireplaces that he built around the area.

Gordon’s wife preceded him in death on June 25, 2010, and he moved to The Pines in 2017. He always enjoyed the visits from his grandchildren and great-grandchildren at the nursing home. Gordon loved his Culver’s ice cream and a good cold beer.

Gordon is survived by three children, Barbara Weber, of Clintonville, Richard (Jean) Marchini, of Winona, Minnesota, and Brenda (James) Gauthier, of Tigerton; five grandchildren, Dawn (Mark) Redman, Todd (Tina) Weber, Joey (Amanda) Gauthier, Ryan (Sarah) Marchini and Julie Gauthier; 15 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Patrick Hauser, of Tigerton; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Gordon was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Alice; a son-in-law, Jerry Weber; a granddaughter, Robbi Haupt; and a grandson, Derek Marchini. He was further preceded by 11 siblings, Ella, Norbert, Louise, Jerome, Alvin, Floyd, Clarence, Delores, Margaret, Richard and Marvin.

Private Mass of Christian burial will be held for the family at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Tigerton. The Rev. Matthew Settle will officiate and inurnment will follow at Union Cemetery, Tigerton. Military honors will be provided at the cemetery by members of the American Legion Post 239 of Tigerton.
