A trio of Shawano County residents will join two Shawano County Board supervisors as they delve into ethics cases involving county employees.

County Board Chairman Tom Kautza appointed the three people at the July 24 board meeting.

Chris Holewinski will represent the county’s east end, former Supervisor Mike Stupecky will represent the central portion, and Jim O’Neil will represent the western end.

They will join Supervisors Kimberly Leffel and Lowel Hammett, who were appointed at the start of the board’s current term.

“The reason we’re finishing this right now is there is an issue that needs to be looked into, and that’s all I can say,” Kautza said. “It gets turned over to that committee and the corporation counsel, which will be Tom Martell.”

Corporation Counsel Larenda Maulson is out for maternity reasons as of July 19, so Martell will fill that role until her return.

The ethics committee reviews and recommends revisions to the Shawano County Ethics Code to the County Board when necessary. The committee investigates complaints of violations of the ethics code, holds hearings to determine if violations have occurred and recommends actions to proper county authorities, including the district attorney if necessary.

The county’s website does not indicate the last time the committee met.
