Edith E. Jeske

By:

Edith Elizabeth Jeske, 85, Sobieski, passed away peacefully on Thursday, Aug. 25, 2022. The daughter of the late Arvid and Margaret (Gore) Carlson was born in Abbotsford on Christmas Day 1936. Sadly, her mother passed away shortly after she was born, but Arvid married Clara (Schwartz) who raised Edith as her own.

Edith grew up on the family farm in Abbotsford. Upon graduating from high school, she decided that she wanted to move away, saying that she would never marry a farmer. Edith went to California to live with her aunt. It was there, after a Sunday church service that she met her future husband, the love of her life, LeRoy Jeske. The two caught each other’s eyes as they were both looking in a mirror and the rest was history.

On April 23, 1955, Edith and LeRoy were united in marriage. They then went to live in Alaska where LeRoy was stationed until they moved back to Wisconsin, arriving in Abrams on New Year’s Day 1957. About 12 years and six kids later, LeRoy bought a farm. So although Edith married a serviceman, she was now and forever married to a farmer, but she didn’t seem to mind too much.

Edith loved her relationship with God and liked to read her Bible. She was happiest providing for her family and cherished spending time with her grandchildren. Edith enjoyed picking blackberries and making bread. She also had quite the sweet tooth and had ice cream every night. She had fun with friends in her spinning group, and even volunteered with the Pulaski public school system.

Edith is survived by her loving husband, LeRoy; six children, Lyle (Christine) Jeske, Scott (Margaret) Jeske, Karen (Gary) Topinka, Donald (Julie) Jeske, Sara (Ronald) Katers and Gail (Keith) Ramsden; 29 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren with two on the way; sisters-in-law, Elizabeth “Betty” Carlson, Glenda Carlson, Betty Jeske, Orphie (Loren) Hamilton; brothers-in-law, Robert “Bob” Blakeman, Jon “Jack” Nelson, Arnold (Susie) Jeske, Thomas (Jean) Jeske, Stanley Dunahee; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three infant daughters; one infant granddaughter; siblings, Ruth (Eugene) Graffunder, David Carlson, Mary Ann Blakeman, Mae Nelson, Herb Carlson; sister-in-law, Stella Dunahee; and brother-in-law, Russell Jeske.

Friends and family may gather at Blaney Funeral Home, 1521 Shawano Ave., on Monday, Aug. 29 from 4-7 p.m. Visitation will continue on Tuesday at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the funeral service at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Little Suamico.
