Donald R. Gardebrecht

Donald R. Gardebrecht, 81, of Suring, passed away on Monday, Feb. 12, 2024.

Donnie was born on Jan. 2, 1943, to the late Herman and Melva (Zaddack) Gardebrecht. He attended Suring High School and began driving milk truck for Manthei’s Cheese Factory. In 1963, Donnie moved to Milwaukee to be near his future wife, Diane Kohn. He worked at a Macy’s warehouse. The couple was married on Aug. 14, 1965, at St. John Lutheran Church in Gillett. They moved back to Suring in 1974 to take over the family farm. While farming, Donnie also drove truck for numerous companies. After selling the cows, Donnie became a full-time trucker until his retirement.

Donnie greatly enjoyed the outdoors whether he was hunting, fishing or snowmobiling.

Donnie is survived by his wife, Diane; two daughters, Sheila (George Rust II) Rost and Breelynne Gardebrecht; two sisters, Shirley (Arnold) Bubolz and Shelby Strehlow. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son-in-law, Roy Rost III; brother-in-law, Randy Strehlow.

Per Donnie’s wishes, no services will be held.
