Donald L. Lehman
Donald “Don” L. Lehman, 93½, of the Town of Germania, passed away peacefully on July 3, 2024, at Evergreen Health Services in Shawano.
Donald Louis Lehman was born on Jan. 7, 1931, in Tigerton as the son of the late Paul and Mary (Prahl) Lehman. He grew up on the home farm in Germania, attended Hillside Grade School and graduated at the top of his class of 1948 from Tigerton High School.
While waiting for his father to return with the family car, Don earned his driver’s license in the local police car as the village police department was tasked with driver’s education in those days.
On Oct. 12, 1953, Don was united in marriage to Mary Kurszewski at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Galloway. The couple then farmed the home farm and became members of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Tigerton.
While running the farm, Don also worked at Westgor’s Lumber near Elderon. He then went to Michigan Tech to become a certified lumber grader and worked for Joern’s Furniture where he graded lumber and operated the kiln until his retirement in the early 1990s.
He was a big fan of the Milwaukee Brewers and Green Bay Packers and rarely missed watching a game. Farming was always in Don’s blood, having never worn tennis shoes until the last few years of his life. As the last surviving child of Paul and Mary Lehman, Don will be remembered as a hardworking man that was always there for his family.
