Delores A. Ziemer

Delores A. Ziemer, 91, of Oshkosh, formerly of Shawano, passed away peacefully early Tuesday morning, Jan. 11, 2022, at The Courtyard Memory Care Assisted Living in Oshkosh.

Delores was born April 12, 1930, in Shawano, a daughter of the late Bert and Esther (Russell) Huntington. She attended school in Shawano, graduating from Shawano High School. On June 19, 1948, she was united in marriage to Victor “Vic” Ziemer at St. James Lutheran Church in Shawano. Following their marriage, the couple lived in Shawano until moving to Oshkosh in 1951.

Delores was a wife, stay at home mother, and homemaker. Following Vic’s retirement in 1981, the couple returned to Shawano where they owned and operated Ziemer Lone Pine Cottages on Shawano Lake. After selling the resort, the couple settled in their home on the Wolf River. Vic passed away on Aug. 13, 2013.

Delores is a former member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Oshkosh, St. James Lutheran Church in Shawano, the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League, and the Foxy Ladies Red Hat Society. She is a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Oshkosh. Delores was a gifted seamstress, sewing numerous gowns, dance costumes, and wedding attire over the years. She was also an accomplished crafter having made missionary dresses out of pillowcases, woven baskets, dolls, teddy bears, and sweatshirts. Delores enjoyed “quilling” and painting, too.

Survivors include her two daughters, Victoria “Vicki” Beck and Virginia “Ginny” Palkovich, both of Oshkosh; her grandchildren, Rodney (Stephanie) Beck, Ryan (Heather) Beck, Wade (Jennifer) Foley, and Dana Palkovich-Albright, all of Oshkosh; and 15 great-grandchildren, Molly (Matt) Ziegenhagen, Ellen (James Briese) Beck, Mitchell (Seana) Beck, Thomas Beck, Jerald Beck; Robert (Montana Steier) Beck, Abigail, Evan, Alexander, William, and Ella Beck, Victoria Palkovich-Albright, Charlotte Palkovich-Albright, Gabrielle Foley, and Isabelle Foley.

She is also survived by three great-great-grandchildren, Lily, Grace, and Nora Ziegenhagen; her brother, Bert (Carol) Huntington, of Shawano; and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

Delores was preceded in death by her brother, Harry Huntington; her sisters, Lydia Heinz, Annabelle Fust, and Harriet Brooks; her foster brother, Elwood Badeau; her in-laws, Ernest and Margaret Ziemer; her son-in-law, Robert Beck; her sisters-in-law, Audrey Krause, Shirley Born, Margaret Norton and Alice Wilber; and her brothers-in-law, Merlin Heinz, Harold Fust, Robert Brooks, Victor Krause, Westley Born, David Norton and Elmer Wilber.

A funeral service for Delores will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2022, at 1 p.m. at Mickelson Funeral Service in Shawano. Pastor Greg Koepsell will officiate. Burial will take place in Lake Drive Cemetery in the Town of Wescott. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. and continue until the time of service. With due respect to the family, if you are not feeling well or have not been vaccinated, please stay home.
