Davenport, Komanekin lead Eagles' track and field teams in Marion

Kietlinski, Pingel win multiple events for Gresham/Bowler

Several area individuals enjoyed strong afternoons of action at the Marion Invitational on April 24 in Marion.

The Menominee Indian girls team placed second with 93 points, behind only Manawa (217). The Gresham/Bowler girls claimed third with 46 points, while the Marion girls scored eight points and took seventh.

The Gresham/Bowler boys came in third with 72 points, behind Manawa (163) and Iola-Scandinavia (148). Menominee Indian grabbed fourth with 61½ points. Wolf River Lutheran (6) took sixth, while Marion (4½) was seventh.

Gresham/Bowler

The Gresham/Bowler boys were powered by Emmitt Kietlinski and Jackson Pingel, who combined for five first-place finishes.

Kietlinski took first in the high jump after clearing 6 feet, 4 inches. The second-place finisher only cleared 5-2.

Kietlinski won the long jump with a top leap of 20 feet and had the top triple jump of 42-1.

Pingel won the shot put (36-7¾) and discus (113-9). His mark in the shot put was nearly a foot better than anyone else, while his discus mark was over three feet longer than any other competitor.

Bryson Nelson had the boys co-op’s other first-place finish, winning the 3,200-meter race in 11 minutes, 34.33 seconds.

Kellen Pingel took second in the discus (110-4).

The girls co-op’s top individual finishes were fourth places.

Willow Demaskie earned fourth in the 200 (30.99), while Emily Jensen was fourth in the discus (67-5).

Jensen was fifth in the shot put (26-11¼), with teammate Tia Terrio taking sixth (24-8½). Demaskie claimed fifth in the long jump (12-6¼).

Menominee Indian

Emma Komanekin won the girls long jump (14-6½) and was second in the triple jump (29-11) to help the team finish second.

Alexis Zhuckkahosee placed second in the 100 (14.18), while Lena Waukau (14.51) was fourth and Madeline Tomow (14.65) took fifth. Waukau placed second in the 200 (29.94).

Keira Nacotee earned third in the 400 (1:13.5) and 800 (3:00.21). Ayanna Smith was fourth in the shot put (26-11¾).

Waukau, Zhuckkahosee, Tomow and Anisa Peters teamed up for a first-place finish in the 4x100 relay (56.57).

Ali Davenport won the 100 dash in 11.75 seconds to lead the Menominee Indian boys team. Davenport was second in the 200 (23.72), with teammate Barron Waupoose in third with a mark of 24.12 seconds.

Davenport was fourth in the long jump (17-5). Waupoose earned third in the triple jump (38-9).

Kenew Awonohopay, Francis Delabrau, Waupoose and Davenport teamed up for first in the 4x100 relay (47.56).

Anthony Martin placed third in the shot put (33-4¼), with Miklo Guzman (31-4) taking fifth.

Marion

Marion’s Tristan Herro tied for sixth in the boys long jump with a mark of 16-1¼.

Lily Wudstrack placed ninth in the discus (48-4) and 10th in the long jump (10-2) for the girls team. Madison Larson took 11th in the shot put (21-6¼).

Wolf River Lutheran

The Wolf River Lutheran boys team saw Luke Hammond take eighth in the 100 (13.0) and long jump (16-0½). Brad Kazynski placed 11th in the discus (82-10) and shot put (38-9).

Elizabeth Klockziem had the top finishes for the WRL girls, taking 12th in the 200 (36.15) and 14th in the 100 (17.38).
