Daughter defeats mother, father in demolition derby

Finals results for county fair event announced

Results for the annual Shawano County Fair Demolition Derby, held Labor Day weekend, have been announced.

On Sept. 3, drivers competed in three divisions. The top three finishers in the Gut-n-Go front-wheel drive class were Haylee VanAllen (third), Matt Torphy (second) and Jeff Niemuth (first). Niemuth, the derby veteran from Weyauwega, picked up $500 for the win. Niemuth also took home an extra $250 for the Mad Dog award. This award goes to the driver who is determined to be the top hitter.

In the Compact Truck and Van class, it was Colton Demmith finishing third, Gerry Demmith finishing second and Clintonville’s Bryce Rodriguez taking the win and the $1,500 prize money. Marion’s Michael Milquet won the Mad Dog award.

The Full Size Truck class saw Shawano’s Kyle Kuhn score a hard-fought win. The win gave Kuhn the $1,500 top prize. Nick Ebelt and Brad Radtke finished second and third, respectively. Nathaniel Huebner took home the Mad Dog Award.

Three more divisions highlighted action Sept. 4. It was a family affair in the Compact Car Class as Morgan Legois outdueled her mother Jessica (second) and father Ralph (third) to score the win. Morgan Legois took home $1,100 for the win. Ralph Legois was awarded the Mad Dog award.

Jessica Legois got redemption though by winning the Mid-Size Car class. Tim Vladik finished second. Colton Dvorak finished third. Legois picked up $1,600 for the win. Dustin Wudstrack was awarded the Mad Dog award.

The final event of the day featured the Full Size Car division. A last name synonymous with Shawano demolition derbies scored the win. Years ago, Randy and Steve Diemel dominated the Shawano derby. This year, it was Bonduel’s David Diemel scoring the win. Brett Heise and Jordan Heise took second and third, respectively. Diemel netted $2,100 with the win. Lucas Schoenike picked up the Mad Dog award.
