Dairyland: Three winning teams blast opponents

Cecil comes from behind to win, Nichols amasses 26 runs

Hofa Park 16, Navarino 5

Brinton Anderson collected three hits in four at bats, as the Hofa Park Panthers defeated the Navarino Rangers 16-5 on July 28 at Hofa Park.

Anderson doubled in the third inning and singled in the first and third innings.

The Panthers scored nine runs in the third inning on the way to victory. Kyle Olson singled, scoring one run; Ty Myers singled, scoring two runs; an error scored one run; Peyton Dorn singled, scoring one run; Anderson doubled, scoring two runs; and Nick Volz singled, scoring two runs.

Hofa Park got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Anderson singled and Trevor Cornell doubled, each scoring one run.

Navarino answered in the third as Brett Krull singled with one out followed by a Dawson Schmidt two-run home run.

Robbie Schuettpelz hit a solo home run to left field in the bottom of the sixth for the Panthers.

Olson earned the win for Panthers. The reliever gave up three hits and no runs over 3 1/3 innings, striking out one and walking two.

Mike Nompleggi took the loss for Navarino. The starting pitcher went 2 2/3 innings, allowing 10 runs on eight hits, striking out three and walking two.

Heinrich Walder opened the game for Panthers. The starting pitcher gave up seven hits and five runs over 3 2/3 innings, striking out three and walking four.

The Panthers piled up 15 hits in the game. Volz and Anderson were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected three hits. Myers and Anderson each drove in three runs. Cornell and Tyler Jacobson each collected multiple hits.

Schuettpelz stole two bases. Panthers ran wild on the base paths, accumulating four stolen bases for the game. The host team also turned two double plays in the game and didn’t commit a single error.

Navarino amassed 10 hits in the game. Schmidt drove the middle of the lineup, leading Navarino with three RBIs. The 3-hole hitter went 3-for-4 on the day. Ryan Boettcher, Bailey Dingeldein and Ben Prodell each collected multiple hits. The Rangers had patience at the plate, piling up six walks for the game. Brett Krull and Prodell led the team with two bases on balls each.

Cecil 17, Pulaski 12

Cecil and Pulaski battled it out with 32 hits and 29 runs in the Mudhens’ 17-12 win over the Reds.

Pulaski took the early lead by scoring one run in the first two innings.

Cecil got on the board in the third on successive singles by Garrett Engel and Braden Uelmen. A sacrifice fly from Ken Casper drove in Engel.

Pulaski immediately answered with four runs in the top of the fourth to lead 6-1.

The Mudhens got three runs of their own in the bottom of the inning on a three-run blast from Uelmen to close it to 6-4.

Pulaski went on to score the next six runs to make the score 12-4 heading into the bottom of the seventh before Cecil mounted a comeback of epic proportions.

The Mudhens scored seven runs on five hits in the bottom of the seventh inning. Andrew Schroeder, Connor Schroeder, Engel and Cole Anderson singled, and Noah Beilfuss homered to left field to bring the Mudhens within one at 12-11.

They flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the eighth, scoring six runs on two hits to take a 17-12 lead. The biggest blow in the inning was a single by Uelmen on a full count that drove in two.

Anderson earned the win for Cecil. The reliever gave up three hits and zero runs over 2 2/3 innings, striking out two and walking one.

Nick Dagneau took the loss for Pulaski. The righty went one inning, surrendering seven runs on two hits, striking out none and walking two.

Noah Beilfuss led things off on the mound for Cecil. He gave up seven hits and six runs (five earned) over four innings, striking out one and walking three.

Easton Vertz started on the mound for Pulaski. He allowed 16 hits and nine runs over 6 1/3 innings, striking out four and walking three. Connor Schroeder appeared in relief for the Mudhens.

Nichols 26, Marinette 4

Clayton Vanlanen drove in four runs on four hits to lead the Nichols Nitros past the Marinette Redbirds 26-4.

Vanlanen singled in the second scoring one, walked in the second scoring one, singled in the second scoring one and singled in the fourth scoring one.

The Nitros scored 18 runs in the second inning on the way to victory.

Nichols got on the board in the first inning after Todd Olson induced Leisgang to hit into a fielder’s choice, but one run scored.

Marinette jumped into the lead in the top of the second when an error scored one run, and Trevor Bloch doubled, scoring three runs.

Nitros scored seven runs on six hits in the bottom of the fourth inning. Debrune singled, scoring one run; Leisgang singled, scoring one run; Leisgang drew a walk, scoring one run; Tyse Leisgang drew a walk, scoring one run; Leisgang singled, scoring one run; Tony Dietzen singled, scoring one run; and Vanlanen singled, scoring one run.

Leisgang earned the win for Nitros. The starting pitcher allowed nine hits and four runs (zero earned) over seven innings, striking out one and walking one.

Olson took the loss for the Redbirds. The starting pitcher went one inning, giving up 11 runs (nine earned) on seven hits, striking out one and walking three.

Nitros collected 18 hits in the game. Leisgang drove the middle of the lineup, leading the Nitros with five RBIs. The No. 3 hitter went 3-for-6 on the day.

Leisgang, Debrune and Senso each collected multiple hits. The Nitros had patience at the plate, amassing 15 walks for the game. Krull, Leisgang, Leisgang, Debrune and Tyler Degerard led the team with two walks each.

Vannett stole two bases. The Nitros turned two double plays in the game.

Marinette accumulated nine hits in the game. Tyler Olson, Marinette’s No. 9 hitter, led the team with three hits in three at-bats. Bloch led the Redbirds with three RBIs. Marinette turned one double play in the game.
