COVID testing to continue at Doty Town Hall

Free COVID-19 testing will continue in northern Oconto County into early 2021, according to an announcement from Oconto County Public Health, Oconto County Emergency Management and the Wisconsin National Guard.

The Guard will be providing free drive-through COVID-19 nasal swab testing at the Doty Town Hall, 14899 County Road T, from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. on alternating Tuesdays through March 2: Dec. 22, Jan. 5, Jan. 19, Feb. 2, Feb. 19 and March 2.

“Many agencies worked together to create successful testing events at this location, including the Town of Doty officials, Lakewood Chamber of Commerce, the Oconto County Sheriff’s Department and the Oconto County Highway Department,” said Debra Konitzer, Oconto County Health Officer. “Thanks to their efforts, along with Oconto County Public Health, Oconto County Emergency Management, and the Wisconsin National Guard, just over 400 COVID-19 tests were done at the previous four testing events. We look forward to continuing to offer this important service in northern Oconto County.”

Anyone 5 years of age and older with at least one symptom of COVID-19, or who have been exposed to someone with COVID-19 can get tested at these events. Symptoms can include fever, cough, loss of taste/smell, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, sore throat, body aches, fatigue, diarrhea, vomiting, nausea, chills, or muscle aches.

Testing is provided on a first-come, first-served basis. Participants should be prepare to wait and must remain in their vehicles at all times. Public restrooms are not available.

To save time, participants are encouraged to register the day of their test at register.covidconnect.wi.gov. Do not register until the day of the test, as questions about symptoms are asked. People who don’t register online will still be tested, but it will take more time. More information can be found at www.ocontocountycovid.info.

While waiting for test results, stay home from work, school and other activities.
